  • He surely isn't going endorse a democrat or Ron Paul...

edit however I like Alternet's subject line better

i think at this point bush's endorsement does not mean a heck of a lot. if anything its a liability. if i were mccain i would not associate with the man at all and i would tell him to stay off of my campaign trail. all he needs is for bush to say something stupid on his behalf and there goes mccain's chances. this does give ammo to the dems though. ie. "a vote for mccain is a vote for 4 more years of bush".

Eh, I don't think this makes a difference one way or another. It's not like Bush is going to go around making stump speeches for the guy. Maybe in Texas.

Sounds like wishful thinking from a bunch of Democrats. McCains going to be a formidable opponent, I think. And I don't even really like him that much.

McCain will distance himself from Dubya just as fast as propriety will let him. He's not stupid enough to hang around and catch the Bush "glow."

I'm really, really tired of hearing that quote out of context.

And I'm not even a McCain supporter at this point.

    Out of context !?!?!

In fact, wasn't the question he was asked actually an ANTI-War question?
Something along the lines of "Given that Bush has said we should stay in the region and continue to fight, even though the american people are against the idea, and the surge isn't working, how do you plan to change our policy in Iraq? Given that Bush has called for us to be there for another 20 years..."

[something like that, i can't get video at work, but pretty dang sure it was a strong anti war question]

and then McCain cuts him off and says, "HECK, MAKE IT ONE HUNDRED!"

What was the context we are missing?

Actualy according to Immanuel Kant vis a vis Henry Kissinger, we can:

n May 31, 2007, speaking in Istanbul Turkey at a conference organized by Akbank [2], Henry Kissinger alluded to this pattern of crises, stating that,
    Kissinger wrote:

The only question is whether it comes about through human insight, or whether it comes about... through a series of catastrophes of such a magnitude that people are so exhausted that they have no other choice."

Then the question would then be, "Was it worth it?"

Yes, out of context. People are acting like McCain says he favors staying in Iraq for 100 years. That's not what he said at all.

He basically said we should be willing to stay there for as long as it takes ... if it's 1 more year, 10, or 100.

  • So I flipped on Fox News the other night to get some results, and see just how blatantly biased they were. Karl Rove is on, talking about how McCain now has the opportunity to show America what a great person he is. He says McCain and his wife must tell the story of how they adopted a dying Vietnamese baby who is now their teenage daughter. This was super creepy given the Rove/Bush/McCain's black baby South Carolina ordeal. Even the Fox News guys didn't know what to make of that.
