  • mega bump....nice find indeed...

It's funny how a clip like this doesn't seem to make to main stream media. It takes the citizenry to find this stuff, classic find man. I will share it!

Saw this on the daily show too, makes it pretty unbelievable the mess that's called Iraq was not something that wasn't expected.

Amazing. I sent the link, along with my commentary to vice_president@whitehouse.gov. I wonder if I'll get a response?

Enjoy getting your phone tapped. Probably wasn't the wisest decision on your part.

Eh. I wasn't completely obnoxious in my email. I congratulated him for his foresight in being able to accurately predict what would occur ;) , and I worded it as a geniune inquiry about what he thought had changed. Mostly I just wanted whatever staffers read the email to actually watch the video and start asking questions themselves.

A great approach indeed, it's always best to give them something to think about eh.

Part of my whole opposition to go into and occupy Iraq from the start, was based upon the recommendations of the Secretary of Defense under President George H.W. Bush... Dick Cheney. Bush (41), Secretary Baker, Defense Secretary Cheney, Chairman Powell and everyone else knew what invading and occupying Iraq would result in... in 1991. Only Gung Ho enlisted men, and lower ranking commanders who wanted to kick some more Iraqi ass ( and moronic citizen pansie cheerleaders at home ) wanted to 'Finish The Job' back then. The task at hand... removing Iraqi Armed Forces from Kuwait... had been accomplished. The former Bush Administration knew the long term consequences of a military occupation in a Middle Eastern country would be. It was more prudent to render Saddam Hussein the impotent, de-fanged, castrated loud mouth under containment.
I really don't know how this thing got so far off of its tracks.

It gets better....here's Cheney in 2000 on Meet The Press saying the same shit:

CHENEY: I don't, Tim. It was–and it's been talked about since then. But the fact of the matter is, the only way you could have done that would be to go to Baghdad and occupy Iraq. If we'd done that, the U.S. would have been all alone. We would not have had the support of the coalition, especially of the Arab nations that fought alongside us in Kuwait. None of them ever set foot inside Iraq. Conversations I had with leaders in the region afterwards -- they all supported the decision that was made not to go to Baghdad.

They were concerned that we not get into a position where we shifted instead of being the leader of an international coalition to roll back Iraqi aggression to one in which we were an imperialist power, willy-nilly moving into capitals in that part of the world taking down governments. So I think we got it right, so suppose it's one of those things that'll be debated for some time. But I thought the decision was sound at the time, and I do today. [Meet the Press, 8/27/00]

what I would like to know is this:
What happened between 1994 and 2003?
And please... save your lame, retardo 'September 11, 2001... that's what happened, man...' answers. The attacks on September 11th did not change the results of a unilateral U.S. military occupation of Baghdad... meaning it would be a quagmire before September 11, 2001 and a greeted as liberators after September 12, 2001... unless you have an answer on how and why that would have occurred.
Other than that... WHAT circumstances in Iraq changed between 1994 and 2007?
