Down. Fall by the wayside... no getting out...
Down. Cry me a river... dried up and dammed.
The names can be changed... but the place is still the same.
I am loaded. Told that all's for naught. Holds me down.
Rise. Life is in motion. I'm stuck in line.
Oh rise. You can't be neutral on a moving train.
One day... the symptoms fade. Think I'll throw these pills away.
And if hope could grow from dirt like me. It can be done.
Won't let the light escape from me.
Won't let the darkness swallow me.

Ah well.
sometimes they do.
it has happened....although alternate modes of putting the request out there have been made simultaneously, so who knows? i don't think there is a *set* way pj chooses to address these things, i think they simply follow their own desires about it at the time, at the show.
byrnzie....got to hear down at my very first pearl jam show, uniondale 2003! very cool!

Where did you hear that? It's not official policy, as far as I know.
Sorry, I didn't expect a response. I was being a poor sport over the whole play 'Smile' for hippiemom at Bonnaroo thing. Since the 20 plus page thread "request" was not fulfilled.

me too la2 2006!!
maybe you need a sign request? at columbia someone had a sign for WMA and he said they'd play that request
maybe they don't look at the board much
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
eager to identify with
someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way
I read about the WMA request. How fitting - he won the lottery...
Just about a couple of decades ago I brought signs to a couple of Motley Crue shows to profess my love for Nikki Sixx. I was ecstatic each time they got his attention. Teenagers.
I think if I were to hold up a sign requesting a song this tour it would be Insignificance for all of the little places our next president will bomb the shit out of.

I also play the State College boot to death and I love the bonus feature with it in the 'Live at the Garden' DVD.
Still, it would be a fun twist to hear Ed say, "This is for the MT."

You all beat me...6/13/2006 at Council Bluffs, Iowa is when I first heard it live. And I second that it is a damn good song and sooo uplifting. ...most recently saw it at Bonnaroo.
Please play Sweet Lew! And Whale Song! And other songs I don't really want to hear ...
for the least they could possibly do
