Is this more Alex Jones style over-hyped paranoia,

    Sounds like he wasn't read his rights from the explanation. I think that makes it an unlawful arrest in itself.

    What an a-hole cop. The sergeant's are usually all miserable s.o.b's

    Impeach Bush stickers in and around public garbage bins, mailboxes, bus stops, newspaper boxes, etc... would be another way. You know the kind that just chip off when you try to peel them ;)

    If his side of the story is the truth, then that is shameful...

    On another note, last week on the way home from work there was a guy standing on the corner of a major intersection by my house wearing a Bush mask and holding a sign that said "Impeach me"... I thought that was great to see.

    On 2 occasions I've been pulled over by the Capital Police in DC for non incidents one for my tint on my truck was too dark and other was so weak....oh for not having my plate on the front of my truck which I had inside the truck. However, he only saw that after he looked over my truck "searching" for something as why he pulled me over in the first place.

    My reasoning they don't like the stickers on the back on my truck, I must be an enemy combatant...sheet I once worked for this gov't.

    I'll try and find a picture of the truck and tell me what ya think, should you be scared?

    There should be a banner day where everyone stands on the street and bridges with impeach Bush signs. They cant arrest us all.

    I don't care if the sign says "Impeach Bush" or "Come on Eileen", if you can't see the potential dangers of hanging a sign meant to distract drivers driving fast on a freeway, then you're obviously an idiot. maybe the guy could have been told to move along, maybe there's more to the story than we've been told. think that's possible? but I definitely don't think anybody should be waving distracting signs off overpasses. hell, it's distracting enough to try to eat, read the newspaper, change cds, and talk on a cellphone while I'm driving.

    as for the "unlawful arrest" due to no reading of rights, I think that's only if the cops mean to interrogate after the arrest. if there was no questioning after the arrest, then it was a legal arrest.

    I see advertisers do it all the time. Maybe we should arrest them too.

    No different than a billboard. The fact is no one should be arrested for holding a sign. If they where told to leave and didnt well thats a different story. But for pigs to make up stuff to arrest you thats bullshit.

    That's not how I understand it at all. I haven't really researched that one. At least that's not what I've been taught. But then again I was taught that I live in the greatest country in the world, U.S. and A.

    whether you understand it that way or not, that's the law. you can be arrested without being mirandized, you just can't be legally questioned AFTER the arrest without being mirandized.

    I have ads where I live that go right over the road. Smack dab center on the bridge overhead. Anything from public transit to newspapers, TV ads etc...

    It's a double standard imo...

    I think, in all reality, crappy drivers themselves are a much bigger problem than some simple 2 -3 word "quick glance" sign on an overpass

    The sole purpose of ads is to catch people's attention. People look, people are distracted because of billboards.

    when you attract attention to yourself; you pay for it. it sounds like you did indeed have 2 violations by your own admission. maybe if your sticker said support bush; he would have let you go. maybe if you didn't have any sticker; he would have never stopped you.
