CALGARY (CBC) - A massive plantation of 40,000 marijuana plants has been discovered by police in a cornfield in eastern Ontario.

Sgt. Kristine Rae said it took officers all weekend to seize the plants, which had a street value of approximately $40 million and were hidden between rows of corn.

The plants were being watered via a system of plastic pipes running from a pond and an above-ground swimming pool.

There have been no arrests in the case, but Rae said the investigation is continuing.

"There's persons of interest but it will take some time to follow through," she added.

perhaps they were attempting to genetically create the elusive Marijuana corn.

The Ethanol Fuel that makes the world really laid back.

What a waste of 40 million dollars of taxable revenue.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
  • Why weed needs to be legalized:

    1) It's the #1 cash crop in the USA over corn and tabacco.

2)It would probably help out our economy some IF the government decided to tax it. I read somewhere that if it was legal and sold in stores it would be around $55 (after tax) for a quarter of an ounce. That is about the same that I have to pay for shitty pre mature sprayed commercial weed. Of course I don't buy the shitty stuff but if the marijuana was grown by the government it would most likely be a bit better. Unless they add chemicals and shit to it like tabacco.

But those guys probably would have paid tax on it at least once either way. I mean it is not like you can deposit 40 million into your bank account,or start spending all of it and no one will notice. If they wanted to actually spend it they would have to launder it so that it appears as legal, taxable income, either through a cash-only business (like a laundry mat, or a car wash) or some other means. I would be shocked to find out someone with a 40 million dollar operation wasn't doing this.

Lesson the prison population which cost more to continue programming than the money spent on schools in each state. We need far more money to be invested in our schools than keeping people locked on marijuana drug charges.

Better schools and far less could probably end up in prison. We imprison far more than any other country in the world over 2 million.
