We weren't technically together at the time she died, but we had dated for 7 months prior. We never broke up, she had just been off going to college. She was on her way back home for spring break and when she was entering the freeway was hit driver's side by her aunt and uncle... she was killed instantly.

I was working nights and when I got home that morning there was a rose on my doorstep with a note from my sister that said, "I'm so sorry Derek, I know you loved her, we know she's in a better place now."

I awoke the other day and went to work, the date not quite clicking in my mind, I knew something specific happened on this day... but it's a day you wish never clicks...

I started reading my friends blogs which of course about brought me to tears at my work place. I took a walk outside to get some fresh air and checked out the corvette show for a bit but it was sunny as hell. Went back inside to finish the day with nothing but her on my mind.
