Some yes, not too much. Cool voice yet very typical. Not quite easy listening.

it is more of an "acquired taste", I'd say.

Yes. I can't say that I really know his music though. It is really the voice that sticks with me.

Kashmir, never heard of them what do they sound like?

Can't believe I missed this chanche to promote my favorite danish band for so long.
Kashmir reminds me a lot of PJ. Not that they sound the same, but like PJ Kashmir always changes too and haven't put out two similar albums. Their first album (Travelogue) came in '94 and they called it fusionfunk, but the Seattle link was clear.
After that came a period that they themselfes has called the ugly period, where they put on even more distortion and had a much more heavy sound. They released the album Cruzential in '96.
But it wasn't untill they released The good life in '99 that they really broke through and became one of the most popular bands in Denmark. The album really defined Kashmir and it got a lot of airtime. The album was also put out in the rest of scandinavia and Germany and the fan base started to grow.
It seems as if they just keep getting better and better. For each album they put out, they expand their horizons even more. But though each album are very unlike the others, there's always that special Kashmir sound.
The recent two albums - Zitilites, 03 and No balance palace, 05 (Featured Lou Reed and Bowie) - was released in all of Europe and I know that they've done shows in New York and Washington aswell.

Phew, get a bit carried away talking about them. If you haven't already heard them, do so now! They're an amazing band with so much talent and sides to their music. I've seen them live about 10 times and all the shows has been great!

Not half bad. I think the singing on "The curse of being a girl" was a bit too slik. At the start of "The Cynic" I thought the same, but it got better through out the song. Maybe I'll get to really like it. It sounds pretty good except for maybe being too sweet for my taste. For now The Raveonettes will remain my favourite Danish band.

    Thanks.

I agree that "The curse..." is a bit slick. It was the first single of No balance Palace and not really representive of the album.
If you find the newest Kashmir too sweet, don't buy The Good Life (yet). You should try their first - Travelogue and Cruzential.

Don't get that either. I've heard of libraries where you can borrow a CD, but rent a CD....?

It is a library where I will rent it. It is just a small fee you have to pay so I might call it borrowing. But it is in fact renting. A library isn't totally free. With books you just pay one sum for a whole year. For the CD's it is something like 0.50 or 1 Euro. So that isn't too bad.
