i just learnt to play 'given to fly' on my guitar. I checked this tab out years ago and kept away because it looked way too hard to play. But after hearing the song on the stereo today i decided to have another go, and it only took half hour to get right. Not sure if its my improvement as a player, or if the song really wasnt too hard to play in the first place, but right now i am buzzing. Thats about 40 PJ songs now in my catalogue of playable tunes.
My advice to new learners, just keep that guitar in your hands and learn , learn, learn.

    Congrats ...

    I reckon i remember a time where i didn't think that song would be too easy.
    The truth is it's a fairly straightforward number ... a good little practice for doing finger picking on ... though i always end up switching to a pick for the bridge and chorus ... and i'm still not sure how that little bridge part is REALLY played ... I always move a d-chord up to around 9th fret or so ... and back down to 2nd for a D\Dsus2 ... but i think the actual part differs from the tab there ...

    I know how to play it the half assed way, lol.

    Thats the bad thing about getting used to play something the 'easy' (wrong) way, it takes alot to play it the correct way.... oh well, might give it a shot tonight.

    Thats the way i play the bridge part too Drifting.... i think its pretty accurate.

    hmm....to sing and play with i would have to go sleight of hand...that odd timed picking and vocal melody is hard to get down.

    Yea, eddie seems 2 be pretty gud at tht.
    I find the best way to play songs like that is to not concentrate on either the guitaring or the singing, or neither of them sometimes.

    That's funny, I was playing "Kashmir" the other night and I remember what tuning I was in, so I went to giventowail.com and then bam time for "Given to Fly"!!
