I noticed on http://www.musiciansfriend.com they are selling what looks to be almost the same Schecter PT's eddie used. Does anyone know if they are the same in quality or anything other than the headstock?

They are very nice but not the same. Schecter is a custom shop. The guitars Pete Townsend used (PT) later used by Ed, were american made custom shop guitars. The Diamond Series are quite good. Made in Korea instead of the custom shop and I believe duncan designed pickups although some come with the actual american made seymour duncans denoted by the SEYMOUR DUNCAN logo at the bottom of each pickup.

I played my buddies PT last weekend, it's a diamond series and it's very very nice and solid. It was the natural quilt top with gold hardware and the duncan designed p/u's. Sounded excellent strait through an old 6l6 equipped carvin tube head and a Marshall 1960A cab. Plenty of everything good, no real down side. It's a very good guitar for the money. An original schecter like Ed has is going to run you between 500 and 1000 dollars depending on who you find to sell you one and it's condition. YOu won't be going wrong with the diamond series.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

Im looking at schecters at the moment but the tempest model... nice original design. Of course Ill be looking to have a good play before I buy... but I like the shecters. I was looking at getting one of the new PT models a while back and only heard great things about them

Just so we're all talking about the same guitar, and it's only $400 and change.

  • I had the PT but it ended up not fitting my style enough. I felt it to be more of a blues guitar. I play punk/ska.

i ended up getting this schecter instead

i actually have a diamond series PT, black with maple neck,...it's definitly an excellent guitar for the pirce(400),...the only downfalls i have with it are the neck,...it's playability freakin' sucks,...but it sounds good,....you can always replace the neck,...
