Is this a new story? One in where a federal employee votes for a presidential candidate and that president cuts federal jobs resulting in that person (and other federal employees that voted for that candidate) losing their job(s).
Or is it a story because it's Trump?

But also, I think we are well beyond the “both sides”-ing governance at this point.0

Are we though? 🤷♂️
We've had four years of "what about Trump/now do Trump."

Please help me better understand "both sides”-ing.
People can say, "what about Trump/now do Trump," but people can't say "what about (any previous president)/now do (any previous president)."

I'm just saying, of course both parties are gonna betray the voting interests of the people that voted them into office. And its not great when either do it. But right now its gonna happen at a more frequent and possibly severe rate. So yes. Its a story BECAUSE its Trump and we can post when Dems do it, but IMO, its a more flaccid ding against them and diminishes the damage Trumps admin is doing.

I wonder, if a new manager came into where you work and just decided to fire a large % of people without really taking the time to understand the true areas that need trimming...what would you think?
I would think that the manager is an asshole and has no idea how to effectively manage a situation. That it's all short term for them, they will claim massive savings and move on...while the next manager has to fix all the damn issues it caused.hippiemom = goodness0 -

The reason it's a story is not because it's Trump, at least not in an Orange Man Bad way. It's because it's in numbers we've never seen, it's reckless and impetuous, and it's being carried out by a walking conflict of interest who is going to benefit yugely. It's also not doing what we were promised it would do. It's going after places where the funding amounts to drops in the bucket.
But just in terms of the firings, the real difference is they're doing so completely oblivious to, and ignorant of, the impacts. Yeah, some other president could trim down the Department of Education by 8% because the Office of Whiteboard vs. Chalkboard is obsolete and some people would lose their jobs; and we could feel for them while understanding that it was a necessary thing to do. That's not what's happening now. And anyone that doesn't recognize that is probably under the misapprehension that they're doing any of this because of a deep love they have for the United States of America. And nothing could be further from the truth.1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

I read about the job cuts and the airplanes, etc and think that's happened in *warning incoming both sides-ism* previous administrations and that it's news now because it's Trump. That's on me.
No, I wouldn't like being fired by a new manager coming in and cutting without assessment. I have been laid off once by a company and it's devastating and it upends your life in ways I didn't imagine. I do realize that companies do job cuts and that's just "the way it is." There is no "family" and there's no loyalty either way.

Added to all of this is the people saying stuff like this would happen, people saying 'nah' and voting anyway, and then it actually happens.

Excellent question! I would like to think that good faith is greater in the real world and believe that it doesn't exist much online. Some people read to reply and not to understand.
My pov is that in the last four years in response to some/most/all of what President Biden did was met with criticism from some on the right. The response to them was "what about Trump/now do Trump/where were you when Trump."
So now there will be four years of "what about Biden/now do Biden/where were you when Biden" and it's all caps "both sides!!!" like in order to shut down/deflect the criticism.1993: 11/22 Little Rock
