Confessions:There's a PJ song that I can't listen to

  • Ironically, that to me is a such a deep song lyrically. I feel it is an anti rape song.

"A holy no..." When a woman says no, respect it.

Wow....I thought it had a double meaning of some sort....Like how spin the black circle is talking of 2 things at once. I remember an article a while back, where eddie was quoted on saying it was about an actor or someone rich or something??? My brain must be weird.

The song still has no flavor for me....clean the pallet? or is that pallat?

Stupid Mop, in my opinion, is a very unneccessary song. A bit like what The Beatles did on Sgt. Peppers. Glad it's at the end of the album.
it kinda depends on how you look at it.. personally, I enjoy those random kinda filler songs. They really do amuse me.. and anyway a lot of bands have them. Gives a bit of perspective on the creative process,, perhaps another view than just the songs, imho.
  • I love NAIS. from the first time i heard it.

but i cant really listen to: Help Help, Evacuation and Stupid Mop
Per sognare altri mondi non è mai troppo tardi
    Another world is possible
  • I'm open and Around the bend i NEVER listen to..

Evacuation is irritating, and would suit lost dogs.... Bring on "in the moonlight"

and help help, eddie sounds like he is dieing the whole song.

So there are songs that we always skip....but what about the one that we could listen to over and over again????
    Wash
    Oceans
    I got Id
No matter what I am always in the mood for these songs...sometimes even on repeat
    "The fat man walks alone"
  • Listen to lyrics dude.....They are deeper than they seem on face value and listen to the passion in his voice that song is one of their best
As soon as you're born you start to die
  • nothing as it seems isn't a bad song at all. I heard it first on a Bridge School Benefit bootleg before binaural came out, and it was a better longer version, w/a much better Solo. I find myself not liking a few PJ songs, like Off He Goes, or Pilate, but i give them all a chance. I find myself even liking the goofy ones, like Hitchhiker. Some of them take an acquired taste, so don't feel bad

I can honestly say that I like all of their songs apart from hey foxymophendlamama, that's me and Aye davanita. I like Last Kiss and Nothing As it seems alot, but that may be bacuase I don't listen to the Radio or watch Music TV channels or something so I havent heard it overplayed.
I am not the kind of person who considers a "real" fan as someone who doesn't like the popular songs and listens to the less well known ones, so hating on NAIS and Last Kiss for that reason isn't fair
One time I was trying to print a picture of me so I could give it to a friend to cheer him up after he was diagnosed with cancer, but the printer jammed, and my friend died.

Well, I just wanted to say this. I love all of Pearl Jam's music and they're definitely the greatest band ever. The only thing is I can only listen to them so much it seems. Because I'll keep listening to them until I'm all jammed out and then usually I listen to other types of music as well. Generally, I'm a music fan, and I love finding out new artists and listening to them, and giving everything a chance, so I'm always looking for new music. But for me, it seems that everything all goes back to Pearl Jam. I always find myself craving their material, and usually even when I'm listening to other artists, I'll find myself putting on a Pearl Jam song or going to read about them or what not. I just wanted to know if anyone else was like this, because I LOVE PEARL JAM, it's just that there's also other kinds of artists/music I dig.

It's weird because despite Eddie's previously stated stand on the issue, the song sounds like it is against abortion... "escape is never the safest bet..." "when she couldn't hold, she folded..."

I like NAIS, its a good song, but hey you like what you like I respect that. But I don't like Heyfoxhandlemama, that's me. I don't know I just couldn't get into Vitalogy. But a lot of people seem to like it...

Yeah I'm like that, it's like I could listen to them all day but the music's so deep in my head it's like watching a movie you've seen a thousand times, thank god for all the band-sanctioned bootlegs! I could listen to concerts all day. No matter how far I stray from their music I always come back...

There are a lot of songs on 'Vs' and 'Binaural' I just can't listen to. 'Ten' is getting that way, too. :(

  • I simply cannot listen to Mankind! I hate that song so much, and radio stations have really killed Jeremy, Betterman, and Yellow Ledbetter for me. Although, Jeremy was never a song I really liked all that much to begin with.

skip it every single time I listen to Binaural.

Not a huge fan of DTE either (I'm sure to hear about that one).

Whats wrong with all of you? Getting tired of a band is a bad sign. But not to worry I have a cure. Save your pennies and purchase a front row seat to an upcoming PJ show. That will cure ya!

I suppose, in a way, being relatively new to Pearl Jam ( a few months) CAN have it's advantages then.

I could do without Wishlist. I fear that someday, it might end up on a Kmart commercial or something.

  • I cannot stand "sleight of hand". A lot of Binaural I'm not overly fond of, but "Sleight of Hand" is just worse than the rest of them to me.

don't like "low light" or "oceans" very much.

I don't know why but I really like "aye davanita." I think it's got a cool groove to it that's not found in other pearl jam songs, especially on an album as dark and morbid as Vitalogy.

"stupid mop" is annoying but weird and strange enough for me to enjoy it.

"evacuation" is rather annoying for two reasons. one is because musically, it's just kind of retarded. the second is that lyrically, it seems not very deep ir personal.

"around the bend" gets on my nerves. I never liked lullabies.

I understand distaste for evacuation. I don't like it too much either. but "do the evolution"? what's wrong with it to you?

No matter how many times I listen to versus, none of the songs on it get old to me. however, binaural got old after about a month for me. it's just kind of bland and passionless to me.

ten is the one I haven't listened to as much because I bought it last. sure, I heard all the hits on the radio and stuff, but I hadn't heard about half of the album before I got it.

evacuation is awful and no doubt there worst song in my eyes
  • ok ppl need to step saying songs like "red dot" and "foxy mop".

these are not songs that you are supposed to WANT to listen when they come up in a rotation. they're called "fillers". if any has foxy mop as one of the songs they listen to the most(or pry to), then there is something seriously wrong with you. i think foxy mop is a COOL song, but i havent listened to it in months and months. these are not songs that are ment to be your favorites so please stop talking about how you "skip them" or "cant listen to them".

to me....who you are is the only song pearl jam has ever done that is just bad. its not like " omg that sucks so bad" bad. just plain bad.
    i gather speed...from u fucking with me

I can't listen to Black or Go.......c'mon i'm fucking with you. I looove those songs. I love NAIS as well. Must be missing something.

I'm not feeling Sweet Lew, Whale Song, Evacuation...the usual really, if this thread is anything to go by. The thing is if i don't get a PJ song, i don't blame them.....i blame my stoopid-ass self for not getting it. If the people who wrote Black, alive, Insignificance etc write a tune, there MUST be something about it. They don't just make a fuck up and slap it on a record. I mean, Dirty Frank......wicked track.....it didn't even make TEN. Most bands would fuckin love to make a track like that. If i don't like a song, i listen to it until i do, if is till don't....i cry silently or something similar.

Hah, maybe got a bit carried away, but does anyone know what i mean?

I like Nothing As It Seems. I Have no problem with that one at all.

    The songs I skip are:

    All Night (gives me nothing)
    Sweet Lew (absolutely horrible)
Stupied Mop (I've only heard it once and I'm not gonna listen again. When I think of it now it gives me creepy pictures, dead people rottening and stuff like that..)
