Didn't Get Tickets - Heartbroken

Yeah, I'm heartbroken. It's been years since they were here, and I requested dates through the fan club immediately with a 99% shot at getting tickets (to the Oakland, CA shows -- I live in Oakland). I was BEYOND EXCITED to be in the PIT. I didn't get EITHER SHOW. I even checked my chances a couple days and it was still super high, yet I didn't get tickets. I know this was done randomly, but it really fucking sucks to not have gotten fan club tickets to either show. I honestly haven't been able to listen to them since I got those emails - I feel so sad.

I fucked up by not reading beyond the Ten Club request in the email to see that I should have registered for the Verified Fan Sale, and so didn't register in time. And now - the public sale? The fan-to-fan ticket exchange? How do I get PIT tickets to a band that's been a guiding point for me since I was 12?

First show: April 17th, 1994, Fan Club Show, Paramount Theater in Madison Square Garden, NYC. (Age 13)

Start by not feeling so entitled to think you need PIT tickets as opposed to any ticket. Your search just became a whole lot easier. You're welcome.
  • If you don’t feel gutted then it’s not thread worthy, sorry

🎻 Sorry, but this is maybe the 100th thread of this same nature.

You'll be okay. Try for public sale. Try for NAL2. Try for a ticket buddy. Try for a ticket that will just get you into the building. If not, watch it on periscope with the rest of us.

you will get a ticket sooner or later... believe me, try tomorrow for the regular sale, and if you miss again, there will be plenty of tickets available later, with the new "system" have no idea how you will be able to buy and sell them but usually stuff happen beween now and the day of the concert so people can't go... don't give up!

    You hate to see it.
  • This again.....
Oakland was a 99% chance of getting tickets if you put down Best Available.  From the wording of your post you likely requested General Admission (Pit) tickets only...for both shows.  I don't know why people presumed that they would be getting pit tickets if they put in for GA only, but it has been a repeated lament by more than a few 10C folks.  It is almost inconceivable that you didn't get tix for one of the two shows if you put in for both nights under Best Available....
Beyond that....the lottery gods don't care when you first saw the band, when you first heard the band or when you signed up with 10C.  The lottery gods just care if you are good person....  :)   Not really....the lottery gods don't exist.

Make the whole arena GA and watch everyone's self esteem go up and levels of guttedness plummet?
  • No need to be a dick, AlaG. I was just putting what I wanted, not what I was 'entitled' to. Also, I never have been in the PIT before, so I was particularly excited about the chance to be.

    Thanks for the tips, everyone.

We all understand that, but simply checking Best Available would have given you a far greater chance to at least be in the venue while still giving you the same odds for PIT tickets.

The ONLY reason to select GA only tickets is because you REFUSE to sit in any of the seats.

OP dont you know if you didnt get tix your not supposed to voice your opinion? Your supposed to keep your mouth shut and be happy for all the folks that got club lottery AND verified fan for the same shows you got denied for....... its ok to post non stop how awesome it is that someone got tix but god forbid you vent cause you didnt.

Ive been trying to get msg tix for approx ten years. Yes thats 10 years. Been a club member 7 of them years. Guess how many times ive seen PJ at msg? ZERO. And thats trying via club and regular sale. Was denied club lottery and verified fan this time and im supposed to ne content and happy about that?  Pearl Jam shows are slowly becoming elitist events.

You don’t have to be content, but no one is going to take you that seriously if you complain about being shut out of MSG. Just go to a different show.

You still have the public sale, which has worked out for me literally every time the band has played MSG. Even scored 2 pairs of tickets to both the 2016 shows in the 200 level, front of stage. I'd say its your fault if you haven't been able to make it happen after 10 years.

Makes sense - I didn't know/realize that. I've only sat in seats before, so it's not like I was refusing, just excited at the possibility of not being in seats. Live/learn. Next time, Best Available

Completely different situation.  I don’t know anyone on here who wouldn’t agree that 0/10 sucks, even at MSG.  But that empathy turns to derision if you’re bitching and moaning because you’re one of the  many posters who went GA only and missed out like the OP.  Shows an utter lack of common sense and accountability for their (major) contribution to being heartbroken, especially when admitting that the email directions weren’t even read, let alone followed.

Throwing around ‘elitist’ when many of the people bitching and complaining were ‘too good’ to accept Reserved seating is ironic.

Not sure if you've done a public sale after they do the Verified Fan, but I would expect there to be about 2 dozen tickets available tomorrow for the shows that you can't get any for today.  Even in Safeco the public sale tickets dissappeared in about 30 seconds.

Fair point. The pool will definitely be smaller. And the pool is already small for MSG. Corporate and season ticket holder deals and whatnot. I swear the 2016 shows were the only arena shows I've ever been to that weren't Radiohead where a very solid portion of folks in the 200+ levels stayed seated for the entire show. Definitely not people from here lol.
  • Pearl Jam has not had a tour in the past 20+ years in which it was so easy to get a ticket to a show.  99% chance in all but 2 or 3 venues?  MSG griping should have its' own thread....we get it--it is a tough ticket to get....but not impossible.  The band has made this spring 2020 tour one of the most fan accessible events in recent memory--good on them.  As has been pointed out repeatedly, outside of MSG & Baltimore (and maybe one other) it has been user error that has kept people out of the venue:
    1. Picking GA only-as the OP did in this instance
    2. Not following directions that were outlined by 10C and TM
It is a bummer for the folks who didn't get in the building for whatever reason....but it is hard to claim that a show/tour is elitist when (by virtue of 99% acceptance rate to the majority of the venues) 10C wasn't able to sell out their allotment to the shows....you could get in if you wanted to see the show.

Correct also if you leave in NYC you are not doing enough to get into the show. I am willing to bet a thousand dollars that there will be so many people on Facebook / PJ Board the day of show saying that someone had to cancel on them and do you want to be there PJ buddy for the night. I understand if you don't live in the city it would not be the best bet to fly and try to get tickets. Take the day off on day of show and just hop on Facebook search for Pearl Jam , MSG and there will be so many people who have an extra ticket.

Not directed at the OP, but it is truly amazing how many people cannot follow instructions and have no clue as to how concert ticketing with TM works. Read up.

Also, I was heartbroken when my little brother died 14 years ago when he was 23.

Not getting tickets to Pearl Jam is disappointing, but the public on sale hasn't happened.  The ticket exchange info hasn't been announced yet, but it gives you yet another chance at face value tickets.

Plus, the ticket exchange means scalpers aren't buying tickets, and some of the fans who are buying tickets will inevitably buy extras or have reasons come up that they can't attend.  Besides MSG and Denver, most shows should be fairly easy to obtain tickets for.

I'm 0/3 for MSG and 0/2 Barclays.  Have got tix to every one of those shows though.  You need to make friends or need to hustle.  There are a bunch of good people here.

    Good luck

I agree with you and from what I can tell, more 10C members got tickets to MSG than ever before.
