Really? You're buying into that?  I forget if youre a 76ers sympathizer or not...
  • Quite possibly the greatest, or one of the greatest, scorers any of us have ever seen. Too easy for him right now.

    Who are better scorers?
That ive ever seen?  I can list 10.
You want the other 10 after that?
Yeah. Name them. Look up their career averages first.
    You said scorer.

Jordan, Durant, Kobe, Bird, Dominique, Wilt, Petite, English, Dantley, Anthony, Lebron, West, Baylor, Shaq, Gervin, kareem, Robertson, Malone.

I'd put them all up before him.

    Perhaps Iverson, Magic, Barry Mcadoo?
Did you not look at their career averages?

Jo has the 4th highest ppg in NBA history.

Also, I said "any of us have ever seen." I don't know how old you are but I'd be willing to bet you didn't see almost half that list. lol
True Remove Petite, West, Wilt Gervin and Robertson though theres enough tape of games you can watch to see how good they were.

The lack of defense in the league now doesn't do him any favors either.

PPG, yayyyy. Last year we had a few crack 30 didn't we?  And we discussed how that hasn't happened in forever too.

Embiid is good, not the best I've ever seen.  In a few years from now when he declines will you remember that he only played 8 years at this point and the others I mentioned played more?

"Good." LOL. Sorry man. Jo is scoring at an historic pace for his career. That's a tad better than "good." And if you don't consider him best you've seen, he is certainly one of them...which was my original point.

How many of those guys put up 70 before?
How many of those guys you mentioned averaged more points per game? -- the answer is only Wilt and MJ.
How many of those guys scored more points per minute per 36, which is probably the best indicator of how great a scorer you are? The answer is none. Nobody in the history of the NBA has averaged more points per minute than Embiid. You should watch more Sixers games.

The craziest thing about last night? For those who watch him night in, night out? He looks like he can score 50+ every time he touches the court. I have never seen anything like it. The game is so easy for him right now. Nobody can guard him. Truly amazing stuff.

Yep. Big rival, but I can acknowledge Embiid is great. He's like the Peyton Manning of the NBA, pretty much unstoppable in the regular season when healthy, then craps out in the playoffs consistently year in year out.

fun game last night, even that scrub Wemby played well
  • So I was curious about scoring in oh, the last 40 years.
in the 80's there were 5 games where someone scored 60 or more.
    90's 4.
    2000's 9.
    2010's 13.
In the 2020's alone in 5 years there are 14 already, 14.

But hey, the skill level is elevating, there is no defense anymore.  I see 100 points is serious trouble if someone truly gets hot.

Also...you love to complain about defense and three pointers. Jo is one of the better defenders in the league and he just dropped 70 while attempting a whopping 2 three pointers.

    Give it a rest.

Ah, he's actually great. That's indisputable at this point. And yes he is, whether you admit it or not. He can't help it that the first few years of his career were cut short by injuries.

But let's jut go by individual seasons then: Joel Embiid is scoring at a greater clip this season than anyone in any other season in the history of the NBA other than Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan.

EDIT--Harden's insane 18/19 season with the Rockets is basically tied with Jo this year....except Jo is doing it playing 3 less minutes per game. lol

36 points per game in 34 minutes per game is fucking nutso.

MJ scored 37 one year...but in 40 minutes per game.

So, yeah, Jo is the greatest, most efficient, scorer you've ever seen.

I am just not excited about todays scoring, sorry.  No D.  Everyones game has elevated, I will say that.

Yes he is. You're wrong again. Name 10 better rim protectors in the game right now.
