    1. Radiohead - OK Computer

Nice list...admittedly I'm not that into rap/hip hop (but respect it's place in music history).

    I'd (somewhat objectively) go with:

    1. Radiohead - OK Computer
    2. Nirvana - Nevermind
    3. U2 - Achtung Baby
    4. Pearl Jam - Ten
    5. Oasis - Definitely Maybe
    6. Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
    7. Green Day - Dookie
    8. Soundgarden - Superunknown
    9. Weezer - Blue
    10. R.E.M. - Automatic For The People

I could have included more PJ, Nirvana, Oasis, and RH (and AIC's Dirt) but stuck to one album per artist.

    Some good ones in there.
Keeping @ 1 per artist, and not based on anyone else's Best list, just what I liked the best:

    10.  Slaughter - Stick It To Ya
    9.  Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger
    8.  Nirvana - Incesticide
    7.  Ween - Pure Guava
    6.  Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magic
    5.  Morphine - Cure for Pain
    4.  Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted
    3.  Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Orange
    2.  Faith No More - Angel Dust
    1.  Pearl Jam - Ten

I realized that I could list about 25 (1 per artist) that I love, so hard.
I left out many metal albums but had to sneak Slaughter in there.  I know there is not a lot of love for hair metal on this board but I have been blaring that album in heavy rotation for about a month and I love it.

Why do people keep putting these threads in a Pearl Jam section of the forum? This should be in Other Music.

Oh come on, it's harmless fun ranking. And plus, it is Pearl Jam related - who here isn't listing Ten?

HAHAHA....I just threw in some Slaughter on my gym playlist, haven't listened to any of it in YEARS.  Saw them a couple times in '89-'90 and it brought back a lot of memories.   They sounded good live.

I tend to agree but it'd be hard to argue that it is more influential.

I always liked "Fly To The Angels." Is that the "prototype" or "stereotypical" Slaughter song?

Honestly, I dislike the word "influential" in regards to music. I've never listened to an album and thought "Oh wow, this is so influential. I enjoy it so much more now."

True, but you can go back (especially now 20 years later) and see how certain albums started something.

It's the stereotypical power ballad from 80's hair bands.

I don't think so, but as pointed out that is the model hair band ballad.
It is one of my least favorite on the record, although I do like it.
I would say this is more typical.

Another Pavement and JSBX vote.  I knew you would have them in there if you made a list!

when i bought it in 1995, it took me about a month to understand it.. but it became a must have on long drives. perfect mix of mellow and rocking.

Agree on the time to digest.  2 friends were heads over heels about Slanted and after a while of listening to it with them I fell in love.

JSBX, on the other hand?  First time I heard it I knew I had to hear more!

Blues explosion and Pavement pretty much got me thru the first half of 1997. (ON record and in concert) That was a shitty year for music until OK Computer was released.  I wore out my JSBX tape to the point that you couldn't read the song listings anymore.

Honestly, I dislike the word "influential" in regards to music. I've never listened to an album and thought "Oh wow, this is so influential. I enjoy it so much more now."

I get what you are saying but Nevermind was a game changer. I remember being floored the first time I heard Smells Like Teen Spirit. For what it's worth, I never need to hear that tune again for as long as I live and prefer In Utero.
