can you see Bush Sr. or Jr. doing this? Reagan? Hell no. Trump? Romney? Haters will call it pandering but Obama has balls. I'm looking forward to this.

Yup. Plus Dan Patrick, the Texas light gov who called the Dallas protesters cowards and hypocrites, has agreed to take part. Obama isn't just bringing a group of sycophants together.

Ya right, just another photo op.

On Twitter, Garner called the event a "farce" and a "sham."
"It was nothing short of full exploitation of Black pain and grief," she said. "They shut out all real and hard questions."

Daughter of Eric Garner who died in NY, while selling single cigs, the choke hold incident. Brought her there just for a photo op, promised her she could ask a question, then get shut out. What a sham Obozo and ABC are, such a shame.

I don't want to see a Clinton or Trump in the WH!!!

that was wrong, EM, but I think Obama is uniquely qualified to speak to this while "conservatives" haven't a clue.

Why is Obama "uniquely qualified to speak" and not conservatives? That is just your bias coming through plain and simple.

I "love" (sarcasm) how he abstained from voting on the Army Corps/EPA rule regarding the definition of American waters. I happen to know from personal involvement in the issue that the Army Corp of Engineers is deeply involved in beach renourishment contracts in his coastal district, and there are huge controversies with local (conservative controlled) beach towns disregarding environmental provisions of those contracts pertaining to new coastal development and illegal erosion control measures. Slick political move on his part to miss the one vote his constituents would crucify him for.

I guess we shouldn't listen to him on issues of race then. I suppose the same would apply to President Obama who abstained on many votes in the senate as well. Sorry. I was just wondering how Obama was "uniquely qualified" to speak on issues of race compared to a conservative.

Either way it appears nobody was paying attention:

I know that I wasn't as I just don't find President Obama has any unique ideas to offer. I was watching Big Brother with my kids. I'm a big James fan.

I'm sure Tim Scott can speak from his perspective on race. I was not disputing that. I was responding to the part about elaborating on why Tim Scott is a fuckhead. And deflecting the argument back on Obama does not diminish the fact that Scott is turning his back on his constituents because of some ideological, anti-science bullshit.

Anyway, back to the topic. I have lived and still spend a lot of time in the district Scott represents. I can assure you, he does not even closely represent the African American viewpoint in coastal South Carolina. The vast majority of African Americans in his district did not vote for him and do not support him.

    so,

the very first african american president, who faced hardships growing up because of his race, who was accused of being a kenyan secret muslim, who has endured the most terrible racist comments and statements from media personalities, who has had more death threats against him, who has been hanged in effigy, who has been called a monkey, who has been openly mocked by supreme court justices and called a liar in the middle of the state of the union address, has no "unique qualifications" to speak about race???

interesting to know that some people think a non-minority conservative might have experienced the same things and could be more qualified to talk about them.

Your flipping around the argument as if you didn't read the thread. It was Wobbie who said "Obama is uniquely qualified WHILE conservatives haven't a clue". My argument isn't to detract from Obama but to demonstrate that his point on conservatives is a lie. Tim Scott may not be this thread's cup of tea but he absolutely has something to offer on the subject. Watch the video. Read the thread.

most conservatives do not have a clue what it is like to be a minority. if they did, they would nor demand drug testing for welfare recipients, and they would not make if more difficult for minorities to vote. now they are scrambling to try to find a way to make it more difficult for minorities to get guns.

Are you suggesting minorities are more likely to have a history of drug abuse?
