Not my favorite album. But a perfect album. The atmosphere of it is off the charts.

Binaural was the first album I saw the release of in "real time", having become a Pearl Jam fan in the summer of 1998. Like blackngold, I was in my senior year of high school. Went to the record store during my spare and ended up being the first person to purchase it at the location.
Similar story. Coincidentally met my future wife on 16th May 1998 (two years to the day prior to when Binaural would be released). Ended up getting into PJ in the summer of 1998 through her. Binaural then ended up being the first PJ album that I bought on release day and of course I've got all the albums on release day ever since then!!

And a couple of weeks after Binaural was released I saw them live for the first time, and so the obsession started and the rest is history. This album will always hold a special place in my heart!

    Happy Birthday Binaural!

The fact that the anniversary of possibly my least favorite album by this band made me rush to listen to it, shows why they are my favorite band the most. It's my least favorite PJ album and I still LOVE it. The quality of music these guys make from top to bottom is just impeccable.

Excited to hear the Toronto 2016 playing of it in a sec!

I've always enjoyed this version - the overdrive at the end of this take I don't think has ever been duplicated live elsewhere.

    Grateful for Binaural in Toronto.

Perfection. They killed Grievance and Hail, Hail on Letterman. Best performances of both songs. I love Mike on this one and Stone on Hail, Hail.

Probably my favourite PJ album, so many great songs. Bummer they do not play songs from it more often.

Music is what feelings sound like.

Listening to it now. I think it's the last album I bought on the day of release, until Lightning Bolt in 2013. It took a few days, maybe a week, to grow on me- then I thought it was the best stuff they'd done up until that point. But then that wore off and now it sits at #6 behind the first five. It's a unique record. Light Years and NAIS are standout tracks, and insignificance all the way thru to Parting Ways might be the best 7 song stretch on any of their albums. 16 years old. Binaural is a teenager. Old enough to drive. Fuck me, I feel old.
It's funny to read this because I would say pretty much the same thing.

I remember getting the CD and listening to the first few seconds of each song trying to see where the big stand outs were.  As I learned about 15 years ago you can't do that with a PJ album....you listen to it all the way through a few times until you figure it out.

Same with Riot Act.  Binaural and RA are probably my two favorite albums right now other than Gigaton

God's Dice.  Very underrated song from the PJ catalog.
Agreed....it doesn't get enough love from the fans or the band as they never play it anymore.

It's a defining PJ song in my opinion.

Binaural is not in my top 5 PJ records, but Grievance is one of the more killer songs that PJs ever made...and Parting Ways has a really awesome vibe to it.

Grievance is just perfection to me
The growl on eddie as he sings it. Super vocal. Its just a superb lp. The Letterman show was great
