I wonder what kind of trial they got? I hope they were all actually guilty.

Sure... although it's not like it's an unusually strong message coming from the Chinese government. Don't they carry out the most executions out of any other country in the world? Or maybe there is one crazy country that does more? It's not the executions that draw my attention. It's the fact that the crime was committed in October and these people are already dead. That seems pretty damn quick, which is why my first thoughts go to whether or not they got a fair trial. It is entirely possible and believable that China wanted to show its strength by punishing the culprits fast, thus pushing along the case in a wreckless and irresponsible way. I hope none of these people were easy scapegoats or anything.

I got from reading the piece that these idiots were standing there with blood on their hands at the scene. If this is the case, why belabour the trial process? Can such people seriously expect anything kinder in terms of justice for what they did?

Maybe. I am not saying they aren't all guilty. I'm just sayin that with China you never know. They manipulate the media, the justice system, everything. I am pretty much dubious about everything the Chinese government does, especially when it comes to their justice system, not mention what's reported in their news media.

Doesn't every person deserve a fair trial? It's a slippery slope, what happens when they label journalists as terrorists for interviewing terrorists? I believe Chris Hedges sued on these grounds and lost but my memory isn't concrete, only that he was involved in such a legal battle.

You could actually raise money. Reality shows like Survivor and Amazing Race could pay so that at some point during their show, contestants would compete by trying to catapult scumbags directly into the volcano.

You don't typically get a lot of practice with a catapult and some would get lucky by heaving their scumbag into the molten lava right away. Others might take a few scumbags before they complete the challenge.

Think if you were a scumbag. Say you're 12th in line and four groups are competing. Say two groups get the task done immediately, but two groups are struggling. With each miss, you move up one spot towards becoming a volley. Man, you'd be cheering your ass off.

That really doesn't relate to the point I was making, but okay.
