Whats the retail price for stuff like Cake, Springsteen, REM, and Dave Matthews? Glad to know REM will be on CD if I miss it. I would really like to hear that one;
Got: Soundgarden singles set Grateful Dead Live at Hampton Nirvana 7"
Pretty much all we were after.
Oh, and I got the Coke Bottle Ten through the 10 Club.
Local store didn't have the Dave Matthews Band box
Still, a strong selection at the only independent record store in our town and the only one not 2-plus hours away. Would've probably purchased more, like Mudhoney, Death Cab, REM and a few others, but had to keep from busting budget.
DCFC. They only had 1 in the store. Just when I went for the Soundgarden Box Set, that one was taken. D'oh! There were also 2 releases that didn't make it to Canada, well here in Nova Scotia. And they were the REM & Mudhoney RSD releases.
What shocked me was the Soundgarden Box Sets were only $35.99.
Holy shit a lot of you guys made out huge with that Cake box set!! Not sure how busy your stores are but I waited from 5:50am to 10:00am when they opened. I was 50 people back of 740 people they counted.
Scored Joy Division, Johnny Cash, Grateful Dead, and LCD Soundsystem. They had 5 copies of REM and 3 of Cake and 5 Jerry Garcia.
People first in line startd waiting at 3:00am (7 hour wait)
1st store, 8th in line. Come to find out u have to be a VIP member to get in early...
A cool guy named Paul grabbed me a Soundgarden and a DMB for me and held it til I got in. Opeth, neon neon, 311 s/t, jay z/ linkin park Jake bugg Flaming lips Xiu xiu Public enemy nation of millions PJ immortality Black lips Neon trees Eric b rakim Cage the elephant White denim Deer tick
I went to a second store and found LCD Soundsystem box set!!!!! Scott pilgrim Jon spencer blues explosion
I had a pretty good morning while hitting two Bull Moose stores. Not surprised that I missed Cake, but thought I might have gotten the Page/Crowes album.
Here is my score!
The Allman Brothers Play All Night: Live at the Beacon Theatre 1992 Built To Spill Ultimate Alternative Wavers Devo Butch Devo and the Sundance Gig Grateful Dead Live at Hampton Coliseum Joy Division An Ideal For Living (1978) Ray Lamontagne Supernova Mudhoney On Top Oasis Supersonic The Pogues Live With Joe Strummer Soundgarden Superunknown: The Singles The The Giant (Double A-Side 12 Inch) R.E.M. Unplugged Johnny Cash With His Hot and Blue Guitar
Figured i did ok considering I walked into the first BM 30 minutes after they opened. Went to the second one and they had a box of the REMs.

I did pretty good at the recod store here. I got to the line shortly after 7. They opened the doors at 7:15. It took over an hour to get from my spot in line (maybe 50 to 70 people back) to the records. The soundgarden boxset was the one I wanted the most, and it was painful seeing a couple of them sitting there as the lineup slowly advanced. I think I got the 2nd to last one. I also read last night that the REM unplugged wasn't coming out in Canada, so I tried to get in on the deal with the Amazon UK site. Hopefully it ships. They also had two cake boxsets when I went in.
I have to say Ditch Records does an excellent job. I think we have 4 record stores in town that show up on the RSD website, but Ditch is the only one that goes all out, gets lots of inventory, opens up early etc.... I guess that's why they are the one with the lineup.
I bought:
Soundgarden Boxset (it was 38.99 Canadian Dollars, for those UK people asking) Ghostbusters Green Vinyl Jimi Hendrix - Live at Monteray Nirvana - Pennyroyal Tea Ramones 10" Springsteen - American Beauty T2 7"
Decent haul. They had everything I set out to buy (ramones/hendrix were impulse purchases).
The only thing I couldn't get was Devo at Max Kansas City- I went to 3 stores, was near the front of the line, but the few people in front of me always got the 1 or 2 copies.... Oh well.....
I had a pretty good morning while hitting two Bull Moose stores. Not surprised that I missed Cake, but thought I might have gotten the Page/Crowes album.

Yeah, I went to Scarborough after Portland because they had the REM album. Not sure if I'm going back over today for the signing or not. Not into lines, but I did forgot to grab the Dean Martin album....
I also read last night that the REM unplugged wasn't coming out in Canada, so I tried to get in on the deal with the Amazon UK site. Hopefully it ships. They also had two cake boxsets when I went in.
We didn't see any Cake Box Set's released here, east of Montreal.
Yah, there was a reseller that put 7 copies for sale on Amazon UK last night (I can't remember which forum I read about it in). By the time I read that thread there was 1 left so I put in an order for it. It's a shame it didn't get released in Canada.
It's coming out on CD next month, maybe they felt the didn't need to give it a widespread vinyl release.
Sorry about the cake boxes. I don't listen to Cake, so I walked by two of them and didn't think much of it. I guess that's what happens when we all have different tastes in music. Didn't realize it was one of the harder RSD items to acquire.
That was a blast. Zia here in Phoenix did a nice job. Over slept and didnt get there until 8:30 for a 9am open. Ended up about 100-150 in line. Scored Soundgarden, Nirvana 7", Muhoney, Hendrix live at Monterey, and Slipknot Volume 3 on clear vinyl. REM and Cake were long gone by the time I made it in. I scored the last one on all that I got which is weirdly satisfying.
I was also happy to see it was one copy of each release per person. Made it fair to all.

I'm totally shocked many of you folks were able to score a Soundgarden vinyl while 100+ were waiting in front of ya's. How many copies did they have in stock? 4 records stores here only had 4-5 copies in stock at each location. That's it. And it's not a big city here.
My store only had a few copies. They randomly put out everything on tables with no rhyme or reason where it was set. I'm tall and was able to look over people to see what was there at each table so I could move quickly through the store seeing where things were that I wanted. I was also lucky and found kind people who passed the ones I wanted back to me when I asked.
