TV Series you just don't get the hype over (don't post spoilers)

Watching "Breaking Bad", like it, don't think it is the best ever though (I read this a lot), so it got me thinking what are some series you just never got why everyone raved about it after you saw it:

Just never took to "The Wire" Neat concept, just too damn slow

I watched the first 3 episodes of Breaking Bad and while enjoyable it didn't make me think "I can't wait to watch more". Perhaps I'll watch the rest one day.

When did you watch it? Charlie Sheen made that show. If you watched only after he left, it does suck.

Agreed. I don't think it's funny at all.

Another one: Family Guy. It can be pretty funny at times, but really not my thing, definitely think its overhyped.

    Lost (dumbest show ever)
    Family Guy
    Every network sitcom
    Every reality show
True Blood (or any other vampire or sci-fi show)

I don't watch a lot of TV. Mad Men is the best thing on TV. Nothing else compares (Homeland used to but it sucks now too)

    Also, Always Sunny is great
  • Anyone not sold on Breaking Bad needs to give it a bit more time, it is a bit slow to get going but when it hits its stride it's incredible. I watched the first season thought it was ok then didn't watch any more for months until everybody I knew was raving about it so I forced myself to keep going. I just watched the very last episode today, best ending to a series I can remember.

Usually it takes me 3-4 episodes to ditch a show. Found this to be almost unwatchable and made it 1.5 episodes. Awful imho.

Two and a Half Men. I've noticed that my parents' generation particularly loves this show. Everyone over the age of 60 that I come across inevitably mentions how funny it is and how that kid has such great comedic timing. :-??

    The Walking Dead

This WAS really good when it was new, but it just never changes. It's just the same shit over and over again, really. There is too much suffering and dealing with the never-ending stream of zombies and constant barriers to anything good EVER happening. It's just become miserable. If find it pretty depressing now, and not much else. I think the writers are doing a poor job, basically. The story is stagnant.

Yeah, I'm hoping that when it picks up again, it'll get back to where it was in season1. Them being on the road, everything they had....gone!
    I hope.

I cant imagine so many people arent high on the first half.

Im only early in Season 3 and I think each and every episode so far has been dynamite. Best show ever IMO and I am very tough to please when it comes to television.

To answer the thread... I really gotta say The Sopranos. 1st 2 seasons were dynamite, but after that it became progressively worse, sloppy, and without much direction.

The good thing about watching Breaking Bad on Netflix is I can quickly fast-forward through any "Marie" storyline scenes which seem pointless so far. The meth tweeking scenes get depressing too so I usually skip those also.
