I lost my wife a week ago (play Come Back at Wrigley)

I lost my beautiful and sweet wife, Sarah, unexpectedly one week ago today. She was sick and in the hospital a few weeks prior and went into cardiac arrest on Friday, May 3rd. By the end of the night May 4th an infection was out of control and we knew she wasn't going to make it. She battled for another 30 hours before passing on May 6th. She was only 30 years old.

I got her into Pearl Jam when we began dating in 2000 and did get her to a few shows in 2003 and 2006. I have gone to more shows since, but we planned a Chicago vacation around the Wrigley Field show and when I luckily won tickets through the Ten Club, we booked everything to spend the week in Chicago and finish it up with PJ that Friday.

I am absolutely devastated she was taken away from me. She suffered from kidney disease and was on dialysis, but was always healthy. She never let her health problems bring her down and never was mad that life dealt her a bad hand. She just always lived day-to-day and usually did it with a big ol' smile on her face. Sarah was also very charitable, giving any extra money to the National Kidney Foundation...and since I am a high school teacher, we didn't really have extra money.

Her favorite Pearl Jam songs were Off He Goes, Thumbing My Way, and Come Back.

The song Come Back sure has a new meaning for me these days.

So since I have seen it done before, I am making a plea to Pearl Jam to play Come Back in Chicago (I won't ask for a dedication as I know that is too much).

    Sorry about your wife man, I give my condolences. Come Back definitely has meaning when losing a loved one, when my good friend/neighbor passed away a year or two ago I found solace in this beautiful song. I really hope they play the song for you.

    Oh, man, I am so sorry for your loss. I truly can't imagine how you must be feeling. I am sure heartbroken doesn't begin to describe it. Come Back has a special place in my heart as well. It really helped me get over the loss of someone I loved very much last year. And I know that there are others here who have lost loved ones recently. So for your sake, as well as for all the other heartbroken souls around here, I completely support your request. Let's hope someone important reads this. Hang in there, Hoosiers. We are all pulling for you.

    You should check out the song by death cab for cutie called what Sarah said... I listened to it alot after we lost my fiancé to cancer two years ago.

    It helped me alot and has alot of deep meaning...

    She said she was excited because she found it deep in our closet...and figured it would get me all excited. I miss her like crazy.

    Wow, I like DCFC but never heard this song. That one struck a nerve. Almost telling the story of my Sarah in the ICU last week.

    Thanks for telling me about it, I will remember to put in rotation when I'm thinking of her.

    So sorry to hear that. I lost my mom in a similar way this January, so I know how tough it is. I hope they play it for you.

    I am deeply sorry for your loss. Like you I too got my wife into Pearl Jam. Our 10th anniversary is this Friday and we were planning to spend the weekend in Chicago but decided to delay our trip so we could go to Wrigley in July. Your wife will be there with you in spirit. I hope this is one post the band reads or ten club brings to their attention and they dedicate Come Back to your wife.
