Doesn't mean they shouldn't make their opinions known to their fanbase. Absolute bullshit people watching a gig through a screen and very annoying if you are behind them. Not saying you don't agree but I'm all on for artists trying to eradicate it as much as they can.

resistance is futile. we are here, we can never go back. a little note like this is the epitome of pointless. it might reach what, a dozen hardcoree YYY fans per gig, that say woah, they dont like it, so Im not gonna film/photograph?

but like I said, I appreciate the sentiment.

sometimes people that find it annoying are the same people that go home and search for live footage on youtube from the YYY show they were just at. :) y'know? how annoying is that?

Rather than a sign they ought to do a complete check by security and have people either check their electronics or allow them to go put them back in their cars. That would send a message. Clutch did this at a show I was at last year, their no cameras or cell phones signs were not just for show.

Hopefully they won't do like some musicians have done and walked off the stage out of frustration. I think someone from King Crimson touring solo did that a few times. It would help if fans would learn that their flash doesn't do crap to improve their photo unless they are within 5 feet. That is probably the most annoying thing for the bands.

Can't say I agree. You gotta fight for what you believe in no matter what the "majority" think. Plaster that on a giant screen before the show starts and see how many take note. If I was in a band on stage performing and saw the crowd sitting / standing there constantly holding up their phones I'd wanna say something. And I would want them to understand its not about what's behind the screen. But I am used to going to gigs and being in the thick of it where its pointless to hold up a phone.

Maybe its a younger generation thing (well, it clearly is obviously) but they are not always right. The instant-digital-upload before the song is over-tag me-rate me- tweet me-download me attitude should be shelved for a live performance.

Yes, the kids are alright... but not always right.

Agree with your last point, I am sure it happens but resistance is never futile.

There should be a rule where you have to do a photography course before you are allowed own one
