Is this a question :? Did you answer it?Moonpig wrote:pandora wrote:If our President was a white Democrat would he be supporting him?
Is he switching party loyalty then?
Possibly, why would the color of the president's skin matter when the article makes mention of the party in opposition.
Do you assume he is switching parties?
are assuming as well that Mr Powell is not displaying positive racism himself?
I've made no assumptions Pandora, I was simply asking why the skin color of Obama mattered. As in if this person though that the GOP was racist then that in and of itself is enough to comment on here, is it not?0 -

How can anyone think an entire party is racist?Moonpig wrote:pandora wrote:

Generalize much
I was commenting on Mr Powells support and wondering if he has switched parties is all.
Do you think he has and will support only Democrats in the future?
And you might perhaps be confused if you think the color of our Presidents skin does not matter,
both favorably and otherwise. Because we know racism both positive and negative exists.
Unfortunately this aide is a good example of the negative.0 -

And I'd ask someone to backup their bullshit about how Obama supporters are the REAL racists, but if there was any proof of this... We'd have seen it long ago.0

My comment was about the overwhelming percentage of African Americans who supported Obama in the last election. My understanding is that it was a distinctly higher percentage than typically vote democrat. The only people we should try to get even with...

I think it stinks that racism was even mentioned on either side in this election.

I love it. The guy calls "most" republicans?
What a racist comment. Of course we are to afraid to call it like it is because he is black and therefore apparently permitted to make over-generalized racist comments.
If all you have to talk about is that Obama shouldn't be president because he is black or that white people won;t vote for Obama because he is black, then just do us all a favor and shut the hell up.
And Gimmie - you are dead on about Ed, he is exactly the same as the blowhards on the right. It;s too bad that you still watched it and then took what you saw on it and support it though.
I'm sure their are racists in the republican party and I'm sure there are in the democratic party as well.hippiemom = goodness0 -

Hahahaha, I let my comment get away from me. I actually knew that!!! That;s what you get when you type things, change things, type them, etc....I was trying to say that because he is commenting about white racist it's ok to over-generalize.
Thanks for pointing that out though so I could make it clearer. Colin Powell is black right? Same with Obama?

well ... i've always contended that racism is a much larger problem than anyone wants to admit ... the continual denial of this is not going to make it better - in fact, it is making it worse ...
having said that - we can look at this story and try to take what the crux of the issue is and consider it or we can choose to do what we often do ... pick up on semantics and ignore it altogether ...0 -

Yep, white people in America are just so victimized.
For anyone to claim that racism against ethnic minorities exists in America is just...sooo racist.

is that right?know1 wrote:I think voter statistics show that the racists are mostly found among Obama's supporters.
if that is true, then why did > 90% of africans americans not support herman cain? why didn't they support alan keyes? why did they not universally vote for jesse jackson in the 80s and 90s? why is alan west on the ropes in florida? there are a lot of african american voters in florida, and if they are all voting for west then why is west about to lose his seat???"You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

I don't recall of the particulars, but none of those actually received their party's nomination for president, correct? Sadly, the number of people in general that participate in the primaries is not usually very representative of the entire population. The only people we should try to get even with...
