A new tourist attraction in Israel invites visitors to hunt down "terrorists".

Gush Etzion, in Israel's West Bank, is run by former members of the Israeli Defense Force who offer a range of activities including rescuing "hostages" and shooting at cardboard "terrorists".

"This is a special program created due to popular demand," manager Sharon Gat told Ynetnews.

"Travellers from all over the world come here to meet former combat troops and hear stories about elite units. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

Even children are invited to take out a terrorist. One US tourist, Michel Brown, said he brought his children to the attraction as he belived it was "teaching them values".

"This is part of their education," said the 40-year-old Miami banker, "they should know where they come from and also feel some action."

At the end of the training, participants receive a diploma saying they've "completed a basic shooting course in Israel".

Fun for all the family!

really? so people have been visiting israel and one of their questions is... so what are the chances we might be able to shoot a terrorist during our holiday?? WTF is wrong with people? and im not talking about the possibly imaginary people who they say have created a demand for this 'attraction'. im talking about the people who think its a good thing to provide such an 'attraction'. i see nothing attractive about it.

Fanaticism, religious zeal, fundamentalism. Fundamentally messed up I'd say. The question is: When does the "special program" become special permission to shoot anybody that looks suspicious?

can they choose whether to shoot at arab terrorists OR idf ones depending on their perspective of things?
are arabs or palestinians allowed to participate?

if they are only allowed to target cardboard cutouts in arab attire, what kind of message is this sending? especially to the young? if this is not passing racism and stereotypes on down to the next generation i don't know what is...

racism is not genetically predisposed. it is taught. and this is just teaching more racism and superiority.

Don't know why I would travel half-way across the world when I can just turn my Xbox on and do it from my recliner. (although I prefer to shoot aliens and zombies much more)

That girl looks more like the blue-eyed devil from across the pond vs. your standard zionist.

She should be wearing proper eye and hearing protection unless the photo was done for shock value.

Actually, there are many blue eyed blonde zionists. I am not sure if it was done for shock value, I remember the pictures of little israeli girls signing idf bombs not so long ago. They seem to be proud of their hatred.

I don't know. It creeps me out that in the US young kids have to stand and "pledge allegiance" to a flag.

in the videos i have seen it was more than just little israeli girls signing those bombs. it was boys and girls of all ages doing so. as morbid as it is, and as much as i disagree with it, i can understand the father of a 9/11 victim signing a missile to be dropped on taliban in afghanistan. a child signing a bomb to be dropped on a palestinian in the palestinian's own land is another thing entirely...

and yet you know that the missile aimed for the taliban will kill innocents. you know that aiming a amissile towards the taliban would be akin to aiming one at... oh i dont know... the anglicans of another country.

fortunately we here in australia have no need to pledge allegiance to our flag. i can barely even look at the thing.

The flag has always been extremely symbolic for us, but, it has been taken to another level. I assume it got really insane during the Cold War... Someone else here probably knows.

i remember in elementary school kids would get selected for the "honor" of going down to the main school office to recite the pledge of allegience over the loud speaker system that went into each classroom....oddly enough, everyone thought that the kids that got selected were cool. i remember doing it one time and i got nervous thinking i would fuck it up.... i still don't know why we started every day in school by reciting that pledge. it is not like it is something that we do every day at work or at home...unless you are stan smith or something...

i can understand how some people might get upset if people do not put their hands over their hearts and recite the pledge or the national anthem. in my experience, it was always the older men who i am assuming were vets of wwII and vietnam. those guys sacrificed a lot for that piece of cloth, so i would think if i were in their shoes i would be upset about it toooo...but that goes back to the whole aspect of drawing little invisible lines on the ground and separating the land into nations. eventually nations invade one another and go to war. the flag is just a symbol representing whichever side you are on. but all of that is a discussion for another thread. but the nationalism angle actually relates to the common theme of these israel/palestine threads in that nationalism is one of the problems that exacerbates the anger and conflict.

absolutely. it seems to be a case of who belongs and who doesnt. arbitrary borders have caused all manner of problems in world history. its not really something we here in australia have had to deal with cause we share no common land borders with anyone else. but sometimes, for example, i look at the evolution of the united states of america and think how one day some peeps were living in one country... the only country theyd ever known and then an invisible border overtook them and they found themselves in another country...and yet they themselves didnt move an inch.
