This song has taken a whole new lease on life for me. I was over it until about 6-8 months ago...

Then i got my hands on the 3 Boston 1994 shows, and heard the 2 alternate lyric versions, both different from each other, and different from the album version.

Now i feel like Zach from Spin, if you ever saw his vid when PJ played Immortality in '08.

This is in my top 3 songs i need/want to see live for the first time now.

Immor-fuckin'-tality.

  • Btw - I'm listening to the Birmingham 9/3/98 bootleg, easily one of the better fan recordings from that tour, and it popped up at #6.... totally unexpected.

I love listening to these old shows w/out knowing the setlists.

If you get a chance, listen to Greenville, SC 9/4/98... pretty sweet setlist. (Doesn't have Immor-fuckin'-tality though)

  • It is absolutely my favorite PJ song. Eddie even adds an intro to the song which started in '96 in Berlin, then went away for a while but has made it's way back to the song after a little time off. I absolutely love the version from Immagine In Cornice where Ed plays it by himself during the soundcheck in Verona, the only bummer was it was just the first verse (including the intro). The version from Hartford this tour was pretty great. I was there to see it and as soon as I heard the intro I knew it was coming. Mike's second solo is usually the best part of the song it really adds a great intensity to the song. I just wish it got a little more play, but I'm glad it doesn't get played all the time cuz then it wouldn't feel so special when they do play it. Later

Sorry if i am annoying about this.....

i first heard this song April 1994 at the Orphium in Boston.
    Vitology released December 1994.
Were the alternate lyrics from this concert because the song was not done yet for the album???

Obviously, in April 1994, I had no idea what I was listening to...but it was a pretty amazing concert....it made the purchase of Vitology on the release date pretty amazing, I stood in line and the store opened at midnight ....

Set 1 Oceans, Even Flow, Sonic Reducer, State Of Love And Trust, Hard To Imagine, Immortality/(Hey Hey My My), Go, Animal, Glorified G, Daughter/(Suck You Dry), Alone, Not For You, Better Man, Rats, Blood

Encore 1 Release, Tremor Christ, Once, Fuckin' Up, Dirty Frank, Yellow Ledbetter, Jam, Rearviewmirror, Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town, I've Got a Feeling

I was there. This was the best show ever. The place is so small.

Immortality has always been special to me. For the longest time, people didn't pay much attention to this gorgeous piece of art. Those lyrics from the Boston 94 shows, two different versions....can't decide which set is better. Just leave me speechless everytime I listen to them. Luckily, I've experienced Immortality live many times.
