What is the "kids are twenty" version on the deluxe?

I know it's a reference to the Who documentary, but I haven't seen it. How will that differ from the actual movie?

Original cut of the film showed to the band...a much more performance based telling of the story.

    AWESOME!!!
  • According to Cameron Crowe, it's simply the PJ20 film without interviews with band members (which were later added because he felt it would better the film)

Nothing special, I'd rather just watch it with interviews to be honest.

Originally, we were just going to do an archival study of them – a real straight Kids Are Alright kind of account of all the stuff that was in the vaults that had never been released. We got halfway through. We actually have a version of the movie that's like that, which will come out on the DVD, called The Kids Are 20 – it's the movie with just performance and very little talk. But about halfway through, we were saying, "You know, it would be really great to go in there now and talk to the guys about all this stuff. But let's talk to them in their houses, where they're most personally comfortable, and ask them conversational questions. Let's get them as guys on film." So that's what we did.

So I know this thread is old, but I have a question about this version of the film.

Are the performances in this unedited and complete, or are they still partial/incomplete performances like in the standard version of PJ20?

Disc 2 is almost all of the performances that were in the movie only in their entirety.

Disc 3 is a lot of fan interviews and a statistical look at their concerts. Disc 3 also has some different songs in their entirety.

All 3 discs have bonus features & Easter eggs too.

    I hope that helps.

Glad to hear & no problem.

For what it's worth, I enjoy all 3 discs from time to time.
