Woke up and it was finally sunny today, even though I work it's a short shift and I can still enjoy the sun!
But then I get a news alert on my phone.
Everything that happened in Norway, Amy Winehouse, train crash in China... Ongoing crisis in Somalia...
Death death death
Makes you thankful to be alive.
I will enjoy the sun today and be thankful for that!
Have a great weekend everyone...

Until then, Chop wood, carry water. :ugeek:
Just down the road from me this one. And I've travelled on that exact same train that went over the bridge - the D3115.
I'm not looking forward to my next trip on that line.

Gunman kills self, 5 others at Texas roller rink
http://news.yahoo.com/gunman-kills-self ... 11015.html
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (AP) — Relatives were celebrating a child's birthday Saturday night at a skating rink when a gunman opened fire in an apparent domestic dispute, fatally shooting five people and wounding four others before killing himself, police said.
The man began arguing with a woman in Forum Roller World's front area where the party was being held, although the rink was not open to the public because the family had rented it for several hours for the private party, Grand Prairie police spokesman John Brimmer said.
He said investigators were still trying to determine how many people were inside the building in Grand Prairie, about 20 miles west of Dallas, when the shootings happened about 7 p.m.
Authorities did not immediately release the victims' names or ages or say how the gunman may have been related to those who died. Brimmer said no young children or rink employees were killed.
The injured were taken to hospitals, and their conditions weren't immediately disclosed. Grief counselors were available for witnesses, victims and family members, Police Chief Steve Dye said.
Derrian Harris, 18, of Grand Prairie said he rushed to the rink Saturday night after hearing about the shootings. He said he usually goes there every Friday night and was worried about whether any of his friends were hurt, but later believed that he didn't know any of the victims. He said he has never seen so much as a fight at the rink.
"All kinds of people come here to skate, and everybody gets along," Harris said.
Some people who were at nearby businesses when the shootings happened described seeing adults and children in a state of panic rushing out of the rink, some wearing roller skates.
"They just looked terrified," Cody Poston, a witness, told WFAA-TV. "There's several people crying. The kids were just kind of oblivious."
Great Southwest Parkway, a major street in an industrial area in front of the rink, was partially blocked off after the shooting. About a dozen police vehicles with lights flashing and a few fire trucks were parked nearby, with a mobile command station in front of the building. As of midnight, investigators continued walking in and out of the building and bodies were still inside.
Byron Raspberry of Grand Prairie said his children go to the rink frequently because it is near their home.
"It doesn't make any sense," Raspberry said. "I don't feel safe at all."
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
thats what i was saying to someone yesterday.
kurt cobain, jim morrison. for the life of me, i couldn't remember what others
Me too. Death is much a part of life, so rue the day, while we have it! Enjoy your weekend.
On the flip side, would someone like Jim Morrisson have been celebrated as much if he'd lived to be a 70 or 80 year old?

'In the seven hours after the confirmation of her death and the closure of the charts, Winehouse's second studio album made a return to the charts, five years after its original release. Sales of the album increased by 37 times between Friday and Saturday, with track sales up by 23 times, according to data from the Official Charts Company.'
"Hear me, my chiefs!
I am tired; my heart is
sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight
no more forever."

I liked Any Winehouse and I don't want to upset anyone, but this reminded me of when I worked in a reocrd store. I was watching the news and saw that Kirsty McColl had died in an accident, so I went into the stock room and told my colleagues. My boss grinned, jumped over to a computer terminal and ordered 50 of all her albums. Then he called central office and turned to me and said, "We were the first store in the country to order. You just made us a lot of money". I lost all respect for him in that moment. And, yes, despite the fact that we rarely sold Kirsty McColl albums, over the next days we sold out of everything we ordered. I don't have an answer to the question why.
I understand feeling sad for them, and sad if you liked their music/art, etc, but if people stopped romanticizing this type of character/life, maybe it would happen less.
As for the other news, always bad news, everyday. Lots of good things happening everywhere you look too though, just doesn't make the news. I hope all those affected by the recent tragedies find peace.
And, I hope we figure out how to control guns, but then again I might as well hope for world peace and flying pigs while I'm at it.
