Flatt and Scruggs all the way. The classic stuff is killer.

Good lord. Those shorts on Bob. I know Jerry got a lot of crap for the black t-shirts over the years, but thank goodness he didn't follow Bob's lead on this one.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Good lord, Bob always wore short shorts--Daisy Dukes, etc, didn't he?

But did you hear how this song sails? Jerry's solo at around 3:59 is
   :wtf: would describe it best.

Yeah, the flashdance shirt was a nice change from the Polos that Bob favored for a while too.

This version does cook, the little solos at 2:30ish and the ones that you mention are great, Crazy Fingers indeed. And Brent's piano fills were always soooo right on. The whole bluegrass concept of everyone playing a lead, or at least not trapped in a traditional structure, really is at the core of what Jerry/Dead did all along.

I've always wanted to hear/see pj do a round of solos. Lots of bands do it for one song (...RVM?) or at the end of a show.

Yeah, I'd love to see them break out a bit in this respect too. I've been going back and listening to a lot of Dead recently, and while it isn't as apparent as how Dylan rearranges his songs, they kept things pretty fresh over the years by tweaking things instrumentally, in builds and segues.

I took this picture a couple years ago and it shows just about the whole town. One road in and out. The ball field to the right is the stage.

Yes they are. They have been playing telluride for a number of years now. :)

I got new vinyl and wanted to share what it's about...
I am so interested in the origin of folk. The old timers who taught their family and friends traditional tunes to be played for everyone. It goes back so far, and has influenced pretty much all music.
Alan Lomax felt the same way and made a lot of this music available through books to recordings. He has brought so much great music to my ears. In the late 1950's he came back to america to take a trip throughout the appalachian range making field recordings of locals doing their thing. He compiled about 70 hours of music and released them as "southern journey". I just got two and couldn't be happier :D Long live old-time music!

Not bluegrass, probably closer to folk/americana, but Jeffery Foucault is well worth a listen. He's got a couple of songs for download here:

The tracks on Ghost Repeater are some of my favorites.

And that Telluride shot is awesome.

I got a question for you all...

Why hasn't pj ever done a round of solos? It's certainly not just a bluegrass thing, although it usually happens in every other bluegrass tune you hear. They are all about improv. and making that connection with the crowd. It gives everyone in the band time to feed off the crowd as well as a sort of salute. COME ON BOYS.... give Jeff a chance to shine

I don't think I have ever heard this, I may be wrong and please correct me if I am.
