so, I just looked up a brief summary of The Devil's Knot on Wikipedia, and it mentioned towards the bottom that Chris Byer's mom mysteriously died since the murders but doesn't say what from? I tried looking it up further on wikipedia but no luck.

What did they determine she died of?--for those who may know from research or have read The Devil's Knot.

Her cause of death is listed as undetermined. Apparently she had a long history of heroin abuse but had some other drugs in her system too. But apparently, it wasn't a simple overdose, so who knows.

  • So sad. :( Makes you wonder if she'd still be alive today had she not been in a deep depression from her son being brutally murdered.

Therefore, whoever, was guilty should also be charged with the loss of her life as well. I think they should absolutely, positively, without a doubt--include that info in the trial. Circumstantial my ass! The defending lawyer just needs to make it important. Another life was affected and that court system needs to atleast make a big deal about it.

multiple drug toxicity (see Heath Ledger, Britney Murphy, etc.)

Did they change the official cause of death to this or is this how you think she died?

I'm no lawyer but I would imagine that the court would have a hard time justifying punishment for her death, especially with her substance abuse history.
