Dale Murphy gets a toe with Donnie?
Cmon.  Murphy was an elite power hitter in 80s.

    And Mattingly wasn't?
222 career HR makes one an elite power hitter?
14 seasons (12 full). Played the final 7-8 seasons with a bad back. I think people forget that. Obviously if you weren't around and just look at the stats. You'd think he just forgot how to hit. Still had more hits than Dale. A better AVG and OPS. Robbed of his prime years. If you want to go by WAR they weren't that far off.
    Here we go again...

Mattingly was great for 4 years, real good for 2 and an elite fielder for most of his career.

Keith Hernandez has a similar career if not slightly better but he won't get in either.
There are many examples of players who've had similar or worse numbers that are in though.

The statement you made was that Mattingly was also an "elite power hitter" after F Me said Murphy was an elite power hitter.

222 HR over 14 seasons is not elite power. its 16 HR per season on average,
20 hr in a 162 game season average. Obviously his power numbers went down due to his back.
    What is this 1896?
That is far from elite power.
    This weekend we rock Portland
