Apparently Manfred wants the MLB to be more like the Savanah Bananas...

What asshole owners are "buzzing" about this crap?

    https://www.si.com/mlb/rob-manfred-buzz-golden-at-bat-rule-baseball
    I stopped reading after this:

Most probably haven't heard of the proposal for a "Golden At-Bat," but the basic concept is that a team could choose one at-bat in every game to use its best hitter regardless of where they are in the lineup.

I've always thought about that. Use a hitter either in the lineup or on the bench to hit in a big spot in any inning. Especially for extra innings when a player was substituted for defense and you could have used that bat.

The Bananas are cool for what they are, but that has no place in MLB.

So i ask the both of you, what owners are "buzzing" about this? @xavier mcdaniel whats the scoop?
I'm sure there are a few, doubtful it's any of the big market owners.

Why not just introduce the MTV rock n Jock 25 run home run ball. It gets thrown 3 times per game and if you homer off it, it’s worth 25 runs.

What about for the 26th roster spot, each team has to select a fan from the stands that has to play for an inning each game?

    Or
The fan has to play each position for an inning, for the entire game.
Plus the fan gets the opportunity to get together with Roy Hobbs and make his own "Wonderboy" baseball bat.

Select a fan to play Beer An Inning, while rotating spots on the field.
Bonus pay for the fan if they can sing the 7th inning stretch Take Me Out to the Ballgame better than Harry.
Double bonus if they can also eat a hot dog every inning.

maybe this just got leaked and no one is seriously considering it. It’s about as ludicrous as kash patel heading thd FBI.

Where would he go to?  Come to the Halos so we can have one of the best and still suck!

    Boston?  Nope.
Toronto?  Big nope but would LOVE that move.
Dodgers?  No way they can afford that.
    Mets? C'mon.
KC would be another great move but that ain't happening.

So the Dodgers keep mortgaging their future.  I understand it's been done in Football with contract structures but deferring the money over 30 years and still getting MORE contracts?

They'd better win to up their shares to pay for this mess in the future.

Speaking of which, I wonder if I can bet against the Dodgers future in oh, 5-7 years from now?

Same thing happened to the Rams......they poured everything into winning the Superbowl at their home stadium and are still paying the price.

Agreed on the Golden Shower Hitter of the Game.

No way.  a bridge too far.  There is a DH in both leagues now, everyone can hit.

I would have trouble coming to terms with that one.

Can not see Boston.  Toronto has some studs and would be very interesting.

Just read a two page Jayson Stark article on the Golden Shower in our local paper…I think it was in The Athletic, too. I’m afraid the geniuses at MLB are actually considering this abomination. I may quit watching baseball if this comes to fruition. The fucking ghost runner was bad enough. say what you want about steroids and the record books, but how about an extra 120 AB’s per year?

Your list is all legit or semi-legit contenders. It’s not like we’re talking about the Rockies.

Juan Soto is a modern day Miguel Cabrera. Going to hamstring whatever team he signs with.

Soto actually helped win a WS whereas Miggy did not, and I loved Miggy.

But i get what u r saying.  Huge contract will weigh them down like Pujols and Halos.
