I only have two during a baseball game. It's definitely a little scary walking around a parking lot and these people driving could just be totally bombed.

I've tried those Surfside vodka iced teas - very tasty but I'm not sure I buy the 4.5% alcohol. I feel those much more than a quality pilsner beer.

    I'm not really into moderation

    me neither.

warren spahn and juan marichal once went toe to toe in a scoreless tie for 16 innings…spahn lost 1-0 to a willie mays homer…marichal threw 227 pitches. guys today are such pussies.

here’s a crazy stat….spahn won 363 games; marichal won 243….they both have more COMPLETE GAMES than victories. gerrit cole has led the AL in two years with two. two! again, these guys are pussies.

don’t even get me started on “calf strains.”
It's crazy how injuries didn't really occur all that much back then compared to now with all the babying and coddling they do with players today. FFS, the Cubs had Craig Kimbrel on the IL for 2 entire seasons! How the hell does someone remain injured for 750 consecutive days?

I read a book about one of the 1950s Brooklyn Dodgers teams. They had plenty of injuries.

There were far fewer teams and pitchers weren’t pushing the limits of what the human body can do.  Nobody was throwing 98 mph gas back then.  Maybe 1 or 2 on occasion.  Pitchers now are constantly doing that and with movement.

Their bodies are pushed to the max regularly so breakdowns occur.

If we had more Greg Maddux types who could put an 8pm-have ball wherever they wanted this would be an interesting sport but everyone wants to throw 3 digit heat.

Hell if I had a kid I would teach him a knuckleball.

Can someone explain to me why do starting pitchers get pulled after a rain delay? Never understood that.

Risk aversion, basically. A pitcher's arm will tighten up from a long delay. If he throws during the delay to stay loose, he could fatigue faster or risk overuse if he returns to the game. All these situations increase the possibility of injury.

Jarred Kelenic is currently the top player in the MLB via MLB rankings.  Dude is killing it.  Glad they fixed his swing.

Or wayyyy too cautious with players nowadays.  They need to protect their investments.

I just watched this Jomboy video. I can't believe there aren't guidelines or something umps have to follow before kicking a player out. I've seen a few ridiculous ejections. If it can't be justified, they should be suspended. And the losing team should protest the loss.

well this was during spring training. But yeah if it happened during the regular season, I guess it couldn't hurt to protest the game.

Even if the ump was right and he pulled the glove on purpose (which clearly he didn’t), I don’t see that being on ejectable offense. Give him a warning, call the next strike a ball and move on.
Its always seemed a little crazy to me they have to power to eject someone just because they apparently feel like it and there’s never a protocol and rarely a consequence when it’s ridiculous.

I love the A's and spent many days going to games in the 80's and early 90's, but this was inevitable. The stadium situation sucks and should have been dealt with years ago. My Aunt is a diehard and still goes to numerous games each year, I feel bad for her that they are moving.

The owners are horrible.  They spend zero on the team really, have a great farm team then trade the good players.

I don't know all the ins and outs of the A's problems but I do know that Al Davis completely fucked them with that addition to the stadium. I always thought this would have been a beautiful place to see a game. Imagine that being updated and refurbished instead of what the Raiders did to it?

That is what it was like back when I was going. We would jump on BART in Fremont (at the time that is as far South as it went), buy a cheap bleacher ticket and have a great time. Caving to the Raiders and screwing up the stadium for their return was the final nail in the coffin for them staying. It has just been an extended death while the team and city spent years doing little to nothing to resolve the situation. They had a plan to move to down to San Jose, but the Giants/MLB messed that up. I don't like that they are moving, but staying where they are at is just not an option. I really don't like that the owner who brought about the depths of the crisis they are now in is going to profit and enjoy the benefits from the move.

I can't believe that people are defending the A's move on social.  They actually think that the A's ownership are going to spend a dime on the new stadium...

They also argue that they made the playoffs pretty regularly...

I asked if they could name one A with a long tenure during that time and if they ever made it out of the round they entered in the playoffs...

If there's any place left in this country where owners can get the welfare financed by the public for an obscene, new venue it's Vegas.

Tell you the truth I'm shocked Vegas is still standing.  With all these states passing their own gambling laws I don't know how they still make money?  The sport books are everywhere now.  That used to be the draw there.

I mean there's a resort/destination feel to Vegas imo, plus the actual corporations that have consolidated those online & satellite sportsbooks are located there. Outside of that, gambling at your local casino in Podunkville Town, USA is kinda pathetic & sad - and another conversation altogether.

The land/casino owners there have a huge advantage over everything else so they basically get whatever they want.

it will probably be another increase in the room tax that subsidizes the billionaire owner. no matter how much they jack up prices, certain people still love going to Vegas. as a former, 30 year resident of Vegas, I don’t get the allure. that said, the Indian casinos and fanduel-type sports betting are not the same.

Vegas is special when it comes to table games and slots w the atmosphere.  I have been to other places across the states and have gotten that itch scratched though.  After being to Atlantic City a few times now though I will say that it is an actual dump.  What a cesspool.

That being said, Vegas still should have lost some power.
