Tampa limped into the post season. Texas didn't do too well against them this season, but the Rays aren't playing that great right now.

Price-Lee should be a great game. Tampas offense blows, he may pitch a perfect game.

Maybe. David Price is tough too. After that, they have questions. I am confident in CJ Wilson and Colby Lewis though. But for some reason, the Rangers don't play Tampa well. That August series was a disaster.

It also sucks that the Rangers get all day games. But I guess when you are the new kids on the block that is what happens.

Two division champs facing each other get day games. Division champ vs. Wild Card gets prime time. Bleh.

Price is definitely good. Should be a great matchup.

I hear you, but you have to realize you guys are playing the Rays and the Yanks are the biggest media market in the game. Some team always gets the short end of the stick, this year it's the team that is playing Tampa in the first round.

Here are the series odds. this is usually a decent gauge of who's getting out of round 1. I will be betting heavily on the yanks.

    Philly -270
    Tampa -145
    NYY -175
    SF -155

Oh yeah, I understand why. Just don't like it.

Well, every writer on ESPN but two picked the Rays so watch out for the Rangers sweep.

I agree with this for the most part. Great to see some different teams in there. It's all good too. Comes with the territory, I would much rather have the championships and be hated than the lovable underdog.

agreed.....but it's not like the phils or braves run a bunch of bums out to the mound :?

and you know what?......fuck a bunch of barry zito  . I had always tried to stick up for him...."he never misses a start, he eats innings, etc." but, in the biggest start of his giants career, he can't even throw a strike? he's dead to me. :lolno:

as a Braves fan I'd rather go against Sanchez or Bumgarner in game 3 or 4 instead of Zito.....for his career, Zito has pitched rather well against Atlanta...3-1 with a 2.45 ERA in 33 IP for Zito compared to 0-3 with a 6.55 ERA in 22 IP for Sanchez (haven't faced Bumgarner yet)

of course saying that means Sanchez will probably throw a perfect game against Atlanta

Halladay & Oswalt were traded for, not bought. We gave up all kinds of prospects in those trades, including potential ace Kyle Drabek. Doc signed what's thought to be a below-market contract extension because he wanted to win a championship in Philadelphia. This is not BUYING pitchers. If you develop the prospects to trade for them, then there's nothing wrong with making use of them in trades. On the other hand, the Yankees just went on a winter shopping spree and spent $250M on Sabathia and Burnett. (As for Burnett... )

And, oh yeah, Hamels is a home grown World Series MVP (just like Chase Utley should be).

So what you are saying is that the Yankees have more position players that were "developed" through their system than the Phillies?

Some crazy stuff about my beloved misunderstood red-headed stepchild of a franchise:

The Rangers are the only major league franchise to have never won a playoff series.

A book was written about the early years of the Rangers. It is called Seasons in Hell.

David Clyde - probably enough said there.

They fired Billy Martin after he led them to their first winning seasons.

10 Cent Beer Night in Detroit. Someone ran on the field to attack Jeff Bouroughs and the Rangers came to his defense, which in turn caused the crowd to rush the field. It got ugly.

They once had a player (Lenny Randle) attack his manager (Frank Lucchesi), giving him a concussion and breaking his cheek bone.

In 1977, the Rangers had 4 different managers, and won 94 games.

Bobby Valentine set a major league record for having managed the most games with a single team without ever reaching the playoffs.

George W Bush was the team's best owner, up until now.

Sammy Sosa and Wilson Alvarez for Harold Baines. Ugh.

Jose Canseco's disastrous 1993 season which included the home rum off the head and blowing out his arm while pitching.

Only won one playoff game ever.

Pudge Rodriguez spent 12 years here, becoming the greatest (arguably) catcher of all time, and then left as a free agent to the expansion Florida Marlins in 2003 where he helped them win the World Series. Ugh.

Alex Rodriguez - 10 years, $252 million. Double Ugh.

    Steroids.

    Chan Ho Park

Quote from manager Whitey Herzog in 1973 - Defensively, these guys are really substandard, but with our pitching, it really doesn't matter.

So, three cheers for the ultimate underdogs!!! I don't have any illusions about this Tampa series. They have taken it to the Rangers this year and have beaten Cliff Lee three times (twice with Seattle), but maybe, just maybe, there is a chance for them to put all the years of futility behind.

    Go Rangers!!!

That said, I want no part of the SF pitching in the NLCS. Go Braves ;)

I think Texas is a good play today as well. Price has a tendancy to get a little wild at times. tough to not take lee at +125.

I went big on the phils today. I know, shocking

Yeah, I don't know. Tampas offense sucks. Comes down to Garza and Shields. I think it is a toss up too.
