Maybe he's excited about having Jeter as an owner?

Seriously though, he is killing it now.

Why are the Yankees making Montero look like a CY Young candidate? These are the games that frustrates fans

a couple of things concern me with Jeter running the Marlins. First. The fact that one day he might have to fire Mattingly.  And if the Marlins win a World Series. If they had pitching. They could be contenders. Mattingly won't get the credit.

WhyTF are the Giants pitching to him?

fact: Bonds had more IBB in 3 seasons then all but 4 other players (mccovey, pujols, aaron and one other guy) had in the history of MLB.

Mattingly isn't getting any credit in LA right now so I do see your point.

Why would Mattingly get credit in LA?  The manager doesn't assemble a team

It's more Andrew Friedman who's responsible with what's going on in L.A. now

Jumping in late, but don't we give credit to the manager for day to day management and motivation?  A great example is how thoroughly Tito outmanaged the Red Sox and the Cubs last year.

So I think igotid's original point was that if they win the world series, Jeter will get the attention and credit and will overshadow Mattingly

Are they really going to let Jeter run the day to day operations? Sources say he gets 20% say.  That's not running day to day...

But we will see.  I'm curious on what will happen.

Yes. He will be responsible for hirings and firings. Many believe he will bring some of his former teammates in some coaching capacity

He gets 20% voting on business decisions but he will be running baseball ops.

Another home run for Stanton. 23 in the last 35 games. 6th game in a row. Getting closer to Mattingly's record of 8 straight games with a homer. Also Griffey Jr. and Dale Long

This is great...and so true!  Angel Hernandez is fucking terrible...how this guy still has a job is a mystery to me.

Matheny just lit up the ump in the Cards/Sox game. Nailed it pretty well with his last few words. This shits gotta change.

mattingly will be a pedestrian manager, wherever he goes. if he hangs around long enough, he may get better.
