despite what you may think of her she makes some good points...it's kinda scary to think 2 brothers of the same family started 2 companies that make electronic voting machines, merged their companies and now their machines are used to cast and count 80% of the votes with no kind of trail.

even more scary that the records of those votes on their electronic voting machines are property of the respective company!

After the 2000 election, I have been questioning our free and fair election process. Greg Palast's book "Best Democracy Money Can Buy" is a good read and explains how elections have been changed on the state (see Don Siegelman's story) and national (Kerry won in 2004) levels.
It's nice to be nice to the nice.

    that is a good book.

for the 2004 election the documentary, uncounted: the new math of american elections, is really good

Palast was one of the first reporters to break the irregularities in the Florida election that led to George W. Bush's first term - the inaccurate voting machines, names of likely Democratic voters purged off voter rolls, the thuggery brought to bear on the Florida recount team, the lawsuit to stop the recount.
Too bad we don't have more journalists like him around.
