I'm not sure how they're going to work Vancouver into that week, frankly - at least not if they're playing GM Place, where they've been the last few times they've rolled through town. I just checked GM Place's schedule and that week of September is smack in the middle of the Canucks' preseason schedule.

The only days open are September 20th, which is doubtful seeing as it's the night before the 2 Seattle shows, and then between the 25th and 29th, which wouldn't make a lot of sense because it would mean even more backtracking, ie. doing Portland or Vegas (or both) before returning north of the border.

Too bad, because it would be great to see them in my neck of the woods after watching them in theirs!

They're not beneath playing at the Pacific Colliseum, they did that in the summer of '98 when GM place had already been up and running for a few years (and well out of hockey season).

True - and it has (barely) better acoustics than GM Place.
There's a lot to be said for nowhere...

I'll agree that the way they are rolling out these tour dates makes it really hard to plan. I'm going to calgary (because its close) and seattle because it was the closest actual pearl jam shows to me.

Had there been other shows in the northwest... maybe portland, montana, idaho I probably would of made other plans. Seattle gets packed to the rafters with 10c fans, so you'd get better tickets going to a less popular show. It's a win for you and a win for seattle because people who spread out to the other shows take less seats and the people still going to seattle sit closer.

Scattering the announcements makes its hard to plan.. then you plan. they announce more shows, its annoying if there was a better plan to have been made.

There's only 2 months left until the seattle shows.. so thats shortening the amount of time they could announce more shows. Then again if you look at the schedule the seattle shows are sitting there on their own. A fair amound of days off, then california? whats with the gap?

no doubt, there's a certain level of frustration, but try to remember how the other tours have went. Whenever you see a major gap between dates you know that something is coming, it always has in the past. I would have to say that SD only getting a friday show would be unheard of. They will play that saturday nite as well. It''s a market thing. You figure 4 days in LA at about 6k per nite equals 24k seats. One day in SD about 12k, sounds like the second date would make it about 24k as well. Vegas, Portland, something in the bay area or down the coast also seems likely. Sometimes you have to calculate that risk vs reward.

I do feel for all of those coming from the midwest or east coast, for those of us on the west coast, be ready because there will be more dates coming you can count on that.

"one of the biggest bands in rock" Is what I heard. In time with the "major" announcement at the same time in Vancouver. There and Portland should have had announced dates. They are coming...

    i didn't want to.
  • Are you sure its Pearl Jam? When I think of a alt rock radio station promoting bands, I certainly dont think PJ, and when they talk about "one of the biggest bands in the world" i certainly dont picture them thinking of PJ.
