Portland's 94.7 Rumor About PJ Show

So, 94.7 just stated after they played "The Fixer" that although no Portland dates have been confirmed yet, "rumor has it that they will make a stop in Portland." They have said that twice today....

Thoughts? I'm actually getting a little frustrated regarding these staggered announcements....People pay big money to take time off work, travel etc.. to go to shows like Seattle, only to find out later that they could have saved tons and seen PJ in their hometown....

I am with you on the frustration, not to say that I'm not happy about seeing them in LA 3, 4, and San Diego I could have potentially saved some money depending on where else they play.

for people who have limited funds and are on a budget---it is upsetting
  • I know, I know, I am flying out to Philly from Florida to see them. If they were to come down here I would be upset. :D

we've now heard rumored dates for Vancouver, Vegas and Portland.

    where there's smoke there's fire.

I am especially pissed about Vegas. this piecemeal tour announcement needs to stop. not sure why the band or its management doesnt care.

I'd be happy with Portland and Boise...but if they play Vancouver after Seattle and then go back into the States, I'll skip the Vancouver show...But Portland! Yeah! Yeah! Yeeeeeeee-ahhh!!

  • Maybe I'm crazy but I'm on a budget with time and money so I've sat out a few 10c sales and gone with the public sale so I can sell my tickets if I have to. I haven't made my travel plans yet but will at some point to the shows that are most appealing to me.

I'm sure the band would love to announce everything and sell the tickets as soon as possible but there are other considerations, I suppose. I'm just going to make the best decision I can with the information I have at the time I need to make it and get on with life. I'm sure I'll be seeing some shows, so it ain't that bad. :)
    Why go home?

Doesn't make any sense based on these statements: "Pearl Jam will be spending some time back on the road, with a series of select North American tour dates."
"At this time, there are no more North American dates to be added to the current tour."
However I to believe where there is smoke there is fire. Jim Koplick, a concert promoter in connecticut was recently asked about pj and said "they will be touring in the fall, we are looking at the civic arena or the mohegan sun arena." So add connecticut to the list.

If a vegas show happens I will be pissed. I have never been and always wanted to go, but I already bought tickets for LA and san diego as well as airfare. I'm happy going to CA but Vegas was 1st on my list of places to see Pearl Jam. This teasing us and announcing 5 cities every 2 months and saying there aren't any more shows planned shit has to stop.

I'm in Vancouver (Washington). I listen to KUFO quite a bit. I have noticed they are playing A LOT more Pearl Jam in the past few days. I'm not sure what this means other than there is a lattice of coincidence going on right now with PJ and I like it.

God, I'd kill or die for a Portland show. Please sweet zombie jesus, make it happen.

I'd love a hometown show. But I agree it's really aggravating on how they are announcing shows. I had to decide on either one or two Seattle shows, and I opted for the cheaper one show and drive home afterwards. If I had decided to do both and got a hotel room, and then if they announced a Portland show, I probably wouldn't have been able to afford tickets (for a 10C sale anyways), and that would have been really unfortunate to not get tickets for a show 10-20 minutes from my house.

I also wonder if it could be another CCFA benefit type thing like the show here at the Schnitz in '06. I could definitely go for another show in a 3000 seat venue. Although the higher ticket price would suck, but it was worth it 3 years ago.

I'm not sure how they're going to work Vancouver into that week, frankly - at least not if they're playing GM Place, where they've been the last few times they've rolled through town. I just checked GM Place's schedule and that week of September is smack in the middle of the Canucks' preseason schedule.

The only days open are September 20th, which is doubtful seeing as it's the night before the 2 Seattle shows, and then between the 25th and 29th, which wouldn't make a lot of sense because it would mean even more backtracking, ie. doing Portland or Vegas (or both) before returning north of the border.

Too bad, because it would be great to see them in my neck of the woods after watching them in theirs!

Yeah...that Schnitz show was freikin sweet!! Followed by the Gorge was one of the best PJ weeks EVER! I'm trying to be optimistic about the way these staggering shows are coming up and trying not to attribute this to THE BAND!

Did some checking. Unfortunately another Schnitz show won't be happening. The only open dates are the 20th or 23rd. So they won't play 3 shows in a row. Although it was just wishful thinking on my part.

I checked Clark County Amphitheater and the last scheduled date is Sept. 11th. I don't think they schedule anything late Sept. because of the weather. However, the Rose Garden has the 23rd, 25th and 26th open. Plus there are concerts on the 24th and 27th, so the seating and stage area would already be in place...

They're not beneath playing at the Pacific Colliseum, they did that in the summer of '98 when GM place had already been up and running for a few years (and well out of hockey season).

True - and it has (barely) better acoustics than GM Place.

I'll agree that the way they are rolling out these tour dates makes it really hard to plan. I'm going to calgary (because its close) and seattle because it was the closest actual pearl jam shows to me.

Had there been other shows in the northwest... maybe portland, montana, idaho I probably would of made other plans. Seattle gets packed to the rafters with 10c fans, so you'd get better tickets going to a less popular show. It's a win for you and a win for seattle because people who spread out to the other shows take less seats and the people still going to seattle sit closer.

Scattering the announcements makes its hard to plan.. then you plan. they announce more shows, its annoying if there was a better plan to have been made.

There's only 2 months left until the seattle shows.. so thats shortening the amount of time they could announce more shows. Then again if you look at the schedule the seattle shows are sitting there on their own. A fair amound of days off, then california? whats with the gap?

no doubt, there's a certain level of frustration, but try to remember how the other tours have went. Whenever you see a major gap between dates you know that something is coming, it always has in the past. I would have to say that SD only getting a friday show would be unheard of. They will play that saturday nite as well. It''s a market thing. You figure 4 days in LA at about 6k per nite equals 24k seats. One day in SD about 12k, sounds like the second date would make it about 24k as well. Vegas, Portland, something in the bay area or down the coast also seems likely. Sometimes you have to calculate that risk vs reward.

I do feel for all of those coming from the midwest or east coast, for those of us on the west coast, be ready because there will be more dates coming you can count on that.
