i have nearly every album on the list. surprise for me was that ok computer was 1 and kid a was at 2, despite the near biblical praise and acclaim kid a has gotten. Interesting to see people seem to feel OKC is better
I dont think 4 in the top 20 is too much. You have to look at Radiohead's impact on music and music in the last 20 years. I dont know if i'd choose their albums as most important of the last 20 years or 15 years, but certainly you have to look at their impact and importance and influence and its pretty massive. Few if any bands in those 15 years have had a bigger impact on our generation. I said this in another thread but they are the band every other band wants to be and is jealous of. They make intelligent, powerful, experimental music, refuse to cater to fans or critics or the record label, and demand the music and art is the only thing that matters. I think a huge part of why they matter, is that they refuse to dumb down the music for their fans and the public. In fact, they demand their listeners be open and willing to try out stuff that they may not like or consider. Few bands do that. Fewer bands still of their caliber and influence do that. They could have remade Creep again and again and again. Instead they continue to experiment and create real art of importance.0 -

I agree with all you said.. Their impact is triple that of every other band in the last 15 years. To me the only band that comes close creatively is Wilco.I'm just flying around the other side of the world to say I love you

Well one thing i hate about it is the list completly ignores any metal albums and has very few punk or hardcore albums.
As someone who is a fan of metal it grinds me that up until about 2-3 years ago pitchfork basically ignored the genre all togther while embracing rap. and pushing those albums as "masterpieces"
Hey maybe its not your cup of tea but there are some talented artist making metal right now.Charlotte 00 | Charlotte 03 | Asheville 04 | Atlanta 12 | Greenville 16 | Columbia 16 |Seattle 18 | Nashville 22 | Ohana Festival 24 x2 | Atlanta 25 x20 -

I think for what it's worth.. pithcfork readers (who did made the list) majority of them would be fans of bright eyes, the national and bon iver and not metal bands or hardcore. I think it's a pretty fair look at what the majority of PF fans are into.I'm just flying around the other side of the world to say I love you

those four radiohead albums are masterpieces, can't really argue that they deserve to have such presence in the top spots."If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph: The only proof he needed for the existence of God was music." KV Jr.0

also..just to note..regarding Radiohead in top 10 etc..
Any time Rolling Stone does a list..look at how many Beatles records are in the top 20.
I know.you can't compare yada yada yada..but people like what they like I guess.
I personally had 84 of em. I need to get out more.0
