20th Anniversary Tour - Matt Cameron, Dave Krusen, Matt Chamberlain, Dave Abbruzzese, Jack Irons

edited January 2009 in The Porch
An idea was touched on by twoheadedboy on theskyiscrape.com forum that was a good concept which I'm adding a twist to.

PEARL JAM
Twentieth Anniversary Tour - "Watch It Go To Fire Tour" 2010-2011

Including guest drummers:
Dave Krusen
Matt Chamberlain
Dave Abbruzzese
Jack Irons

Krusen will play on: Alive, Once, Why Go, Deep
Chamberlain will play on: Garden, Wash, Jeremy, Porch, Release
Abbruzzese will play on: Spin TBC, SOLAT, WMA, Rats, Blood, Go, Leash
Irons will play on: Who You Are, In My Tree, Present Tense, Red Mosquito, GTF, Hail Hail
Cameron will play on: all later material

During WMA, Abbruzzese will play the kit and other all drummers will come out and play bongos, shakers and roto-toms, and PJ will invite a few fans up to join in on a couple of drums for a loose, tribal sound.

Maybe it's because I'm a drummer, but I would easily pay over $100 to see this! I think it's time PJ buried the hatchet on any past issues with previous members, and realize that all members of PJ have had an influence on where PJ is today. Give 'em the props they deserve, and perhaps give the fans a chance to see all the members of PJ at the same time!

Join in, or flame on, as you see fit! :)
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

I wouldn't mind seeing Dave A. on a few, but Matt for the rest.

Love that idea. I would pay a lot to see a show like that. Sadly it is PURE fiction. It will never happen. First all of those guys would need to line up their lives/schedules. They all still play in some capacity with other projects. And secondly I think the rift between Dave A. and the band is too much for them to forgive.

Well I'm hoping, since it seems the band is more amicable nowadays, that maybe if this thread grows that maybe a band member or two may see this idea while they're checking out their new forum... and maybe that whatever differences they thought they had could be set aside, in the name of music. In celebration of music. In celebration of what made PJ, PJ.

...they made peace with ticketmaster, and ticketmaster is still f*ucking with people. I don't know what Dave A did wrong, but wouldn't you think that if they could get over TM, they could get past whatever they had against Dave?

I appreciate your honesty and input. From the few responses of only a couple so far (yours included) make me think this would be a popular idea.

You're saying "I would only want to see Jack Irons and Matt Cameron", so you're interested. Others are exclaiming "Dave F'n Krusen!", and others are saying they want to see Dave Abbruzzese and Matt Cameron. While I would like to see a particular two drummers, I think this arrangement would be a great concert tour, and give a lot of energy to a lot of PJ fans.

It would be like seeing The Who with Keith Moon again, or Pink Floyd with Sid Barrett, or Smashing Pumpkins with James and D'arcy again (though frankly soundwise the pumpkins sounded the same without J&D).

I think Jack will win... because he's starting to lift weights. He must be taking steroids, because he's got a lot more body hair now. Jack's last known project:

Not a particular set list, but each earlier drummer gets two or three songs to play each show, and the rest Cameron.

I post about this idea on the old/regular Pit(sarcastically though) a couple of times before but always forgot to mention Chamberlain. :P But yeah, this would be a pretty cool idea, but I doubt it'll happen. I do see Jack & Krusen doing special appearances though.

while i like the idea, generally, it will never happen. i could see something, maybe, happening for the HOF induction, but that's about it. and why does chamberlain get 5 songs? he was in the band for like 2 weeks...i think dave A, jack, and matt cameron are the ones to concentrate on for something like this, or for the HOF ceremony...

First off, it's not a dumb idea. That's pretty rude.

Would it happen? Maybe not. As someone who saw Dave A play with Pearl Jam, he was really good. I like Cameron slightly better, but live there was no question Dave A was better than Jack for energy. But on Yield and No Code Jack really impacted the sound in a great great way.

For fantasy's sake I'd say have Foo Fighters open and have Dave Grohl play a few too for what might have been ;)

I dont see why Chamberlain should be up, he was hardly a member. More of just a stand in temporary drummer.

Sadly they had worldview/philosophical life differences. AKA: Ed hated what Dave A. Stood for and his 'code'.

At least that is my reading, and Eddie kicked him out.

Because he was a member of PJ and plaid in their debut video, which was probably the single most pivotal moment which brought PJ to such popularity. ...and he's a damn good drummer. But I could see PJ doing a twentieth anniversary tour with their four album drummers, Krusen, Abbruzzese, Irons, Cameron and have them play on their respective material.
