Why you didn't lose Wrigley tickets to "Scalpers"

Postby Foriginal Sin » Thu Mar 21, 2013 1:55 am

Not only does stubhub show you how many sections have ZERO tickets available, more than any Cubs game ever, but this rethread http://community.pearljam.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=167407 proves it. Since last night over 50 people added there position to the map, yet less than 10 responded to the thread. Why, because some people, like me for 12 years, only came on the forum to view stuff, never really responding. I'm not a math major but based on this thread posted above just since last night, like only 18% of 10club members post on here. So when everyone was bitching about losing tickets to scalpers (still less than 1,400 on stubhub out of 42,000 plus tickets out there) they should have been connecting the dots that there are a lot of Pearl Jam fans out there that maybe just don't care to view the forum everyday. Hell I've written over 50% of my posts in the last 2 years and I've been viewing posts here since 1999. Oh and Inside Job is a fucking amazing song.

Not to be argumentative but I have been a fairly strong complainer (haha) regarding scalpers. While your point is understood....that there are many lurkers in the PJ community.... the fact remains that thousands of tickets have sold* or are still on-sale for 3X + face value. This volume of tickets cannot be explained by PJ fans that changed their mind.

* a month or so ago, a poster created a Stub Hub account and was able to confirm sales.

I think I just realized that you meant 10C tix didn't fall in to the hands of scalpers.... I fully agree with you about that.

Also, stubhub is not the only source for the secondary market so just to count tickets on that site is lowballing the total by quite a bit.

Not quite sure what you are getting at but please remember that:

-stubhub is not the only means of reselling tickets
-there is no way of knowing that all or even a majority of potential secondary market tickets are currently for sale or have been sold

Quite frankly I think the 10c did a good job trying to get as many of us tickets as possible even though we had to suffer through what are arguably the two most frustrating ticketing processes (lotto and waiting rooms).

This show is just that popular! Chicago in July at Wrigley is a greater draw than a weekend in East Troy in September.

Scalpers scalp what they think they can scalp.....even everyday people that snatched up all the tickets they could and are now trying to sell for 300-400% over face.

If anyone know how Wrigley Field "handles" a large portion of Cubs tickets, especially when they are playing well, then they would know about the ticket "situation" for the Pearl Jam show.
