Dear Pearl Jam,

With this past weekend marking the 15th anniversary of my favorite album of yours (and I am sure a lot of people on here also), the great "Yield," and listening to "Live on Two Legs" as I write this, I was hoping and thinking it is time for you to open wide the doors of the vault and unearth the tapes from the great Yield Tour. "Live on Two Legs" sounds brilliant. Can you imagine what every show from that tour would sound like if you mix and master them the same way you did for LO2L? It would be magical and would rank up there as your best bootleg/vault release.

I was only seven in 1998 and had no clue who you were. I was introduced to your music at the age of 14 and you have become one of my all-time favorite bands. Your music has spoken to me and helped me through some difficult times. When I first heard "Yield," I was blown away by it. It was like winning the lotto or discovering gold (or plutonium!). Since that first listen, "Yield" has become my second favorite album of all-time and "In Hiding" is my favorite song of yours (I even got to hear "In Hiding" at my first concert in Hartford on June 27, 2008!). This is a period of the band I am fascinated in and absolutely love. Just think of how amazing the legendary MSG 2 9/11 show will sound as an official soundboard recording?

When I listen to LO2L or the bootlegs I have of the tour, to me, you have sound your best on this tour. Eddie, your voice has never sounded better than on the album and tour. Mike, you have always sounded the same and continue to blow away PJ fans for over 20 years and melting our faces with your incendiary playing and solos. Jeff and Matt, you guys lay the foundation of the rhythm for the band and are the best rhythm section in music today. Stone, without you and that demo tape in 1990 and sending it to some unknown singer, who knows if we all would be here today if it wasn't for you laying down those guitar riff demos and working on them with Mike, Jeff, and Matt. That tape changed everything for us and music. Thank you.

I guess what I am trying to get at is to say that I believe it is time for this magical tour to see the light of day and released. I guess you can say this is sort of a petition. I don't know how many people will sign on and agree with this post, but if enough people want to see this entire tour released, I hope we can get some response of a "yes," "no," or "maybe" from you.

I know it's a long shot, but I hope someone relays this message to the band if enough people reply to this and give it a thought.

Anyone else hope this tour is released?

Thank you for reading this.

 I whole heatedly agree! The MSG shows were the last time I saw the full band. They were incredible and I would love to have an official release of these shows. I've been listening to yield a lot lately. I fully support this thread!

Anyone remember the last page of the latest Deep Magazine how it had ticket stubs of only the Yield Tour? I hope that's a sign!

  • Loved the tour supporting YIELD !!! Saw them 4 times. Loved that era's sound. Just something about them sounded different back then. I'm no expert but it sounded like the guitars were raspier for lack of a better term. And the drums were more brash. Hopefully those that saw them live back then know what I'm trying to describe.

And throw in a box set while you're at it!
  • Great post and great idea, would love to see this happen although at the moment I would be happy for just one 'new' show from this tour to be officially released and if you feel like throwing out a DVD too, well, you'd make this boy happy for sure! :)
