Stolen Music

So last night my car was broken into, the only thing stolen being my CD book. Not only did I lose close to 150 CDs, but I lost all the PJ studio albums and a few select bootlegs. Losing all the studio albums hurts quite a bit, but I lost the rest of my music as well. The only CDs left were things I didn't have in the book which were six boots, Stone's Bayleaf, all of CAKE's studio albums, and a few indie things. Probably lost more than $1,000 in music for no reason whatsoever. This is a sob story I just had to tell and just a little reminder to cherish the hard copy.

    I know how you feel too, years ago my CD's were stolen when I was travelling overseas and it really sucked. I remember wishing at the time that they'd taken my passport instead! :oops:

    I had some Pearl Jam CDs stolen similarly from me as well before. I had them backed up but miss Yield the most because of the CD itself. I can't remember what the Lost Dogs CDs looked like.

    I realize that the thieves probably mainly wanted my radio, which they helped themselves to, which is whatever, but the bare CDs without the cases/covers, really pissed me off, which I think is your point.

    That sucks. I had a bunch of cd's stolen from my car a few years back and now only keep music in there that's on burned copies. That being said I've got an extra copy of Ten and a few extra bootlegs if you want em. Just pm me an address.

    I stopped leaving shit in my car back when car alarms became popular because I refused to give in to having that god aweful noise maker as part of my car. Left it empty, doors unlocked and sometimes, would leave the keys under the seat just to see if the punks could figure it out and steal my shitbox of a car. Never had my car stolen but did have it rifled through a few times. But it does suck big time nevertheless.

    PM your address and I'll send you something(s) to build your library back up. But don't leave your shit in your car as sucky as that is.

    Wow. I appreciate all the offers and all the responses. Luckily with the help of my brother and my friends I regathered my studio collection with the exception of Riot Act - which cannot be found in Springfield, MO for some strange reason. I also got lucky with the local record store selling me all of Soundgarden's studio collection at a reduced price. I had all of my boots separate from the book, so luckily none of those were taken. I do have all of my music copied to my computer, but I am not looking forward to burning the rest.

    Again, I do appreciate all the help you all have offered. This is what separates PJ fans from the rest of society. Many thanks.

    That sucks. :(

    Future advice: Rip all your stuff to CD-R. That way, if someone gets in there, they just steal backups. In addition, you keep your original CDs safe and relatively unplayed.

    Oh mam, that sucks, ChasePro. Just yesterday as I was walking from my car to work I had this awful feeling that I'd left the car unlocked with my CD book containing several PJ discs. Turns out the car was locked but it could have happened to me just as easily. Sorry to hear the bad news.

    When I read this title, the first thought that popped into my head was stolen music, the bit torrent way. Ya know... people that download stuff illegally.

    I'm sorry your music was stolen but I can't help but wonder if artists feel the same way about their songs and albums being illegally downloaded. Is it that same sense of violation? that someone took your stuff without your permission?

    My very first musical theft was a ratt cassette... i cried.

    The Best Buy in town is clearing out its CDs and had Avocado, Riot Act, and a bunch of others for like $5 each. I can send a couple your way.
