*** OFFICIAL EV VEGAS PRE-PARTY 10/31 & 11/1!***

Thinking about a pre-party spot... Driving by the other day, I noticed the Loose Caboose bar that is right next to the Palms on Flamingo (just west of it, south side--same side as the Palms.) I have been there before but it was a while back. I think I might try to pop in there again to see what it's like currently. I know there are a few others on here that live in Vegas that might be able to offer their take on a pre-party gathering spot. I only bring up the Loose Caboose as it is right there next to the Palms and would have cheaper beers and food than one would find inside the casino at the Palms.

Cheers and here's to the best Wednesday and Thursday night party ever in Vegas!

We will hold a collection for Boys Town Nevada:

Boys Town Nevada opened its doors in 1991, bringing an innovative approach to child and family care to those in need in the Las Vegas area. The site has five Family Homes, where boys and girls learn valuable skills that give them a foundation for a brighter future. The site’s Integrated Continuum of CareSM also offers In-Home Family ServicesSM, and Community Support ServicesSM. The latter level of care includes Common Sense Parenting® classes and the Boys Town Behavioral Network, an internal team of program professionals who provide individualized care recommendations for children referred to Boys Town Nevada. These services and programs touch the lives of 20,000 children and families in Nevada each year.

Boys Town Nevada is headquartered in Las Vegas.

There will also be a table to raise money for CCFA.

The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cures for Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis. It was founded in 1967 by Irwin M. and Suzanne Rosenthal, William D. and Shelby Modell, and Henry D. Janowitz, M.D.
Since our founding over four decades ago, CCFA has remained at the forefront of research in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Today, we fund cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions, nurture investigators at the early stages of their careers, and finance underdeveloped areas of research. In addition, our educational workshops and programs, along with our scientific journal, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, enable medical professionals to keep pace with this rapidly growing field. We are very proud that the National Institutes of Health has commended us for "uniting the research community and strengthening IBD research."

  • Not a bad set of reviews on Yelp for the Loose Caboose. And as one of the reviewers states, it is better than getting gouged on prices at the Palms.

    http://www.yelp.com/biz/loose-caboose-f ... -las-vegas

Where the Palms parking lot ends, there's one north-south running street between it and the Loose Caboose's parking lot. The Palms has plenty of parking out front and a huge garage, but I'd still come on the early side on a concert night. I think the Pearl only holds 2500 though.

Sure, it's nice to support the local "dancing" economy, but I fear some of our brethren might not have the necessary will power not to drop a knot in that joint.

  • Looks like from the other thread, people are pro doing up the Loose Caboose I suggested. And, again, it is right next door to the Palms. I'll maybe swing by soon to pop in. I just don't think you can beat a local pub joint for better prices on food and beer/drinks compared to the gouging that casinos get away with. Plus it will allow us to gather as EV/PJ fans, rather than be books amongst the many on the shelf inside the Palms.

There's one in every crowd.
  • I was able to pop into the Loose Caboose today and spoke with the manager, who said that we can get a discount on drinks if I let him know about a certain amount of heads that are likely to show up. So, come the end of March or early April, I will give him a call with a head count and maybe we can get a cheaper benefit with drinks. They do party platters and serving tray stuff, but I figured with food, we'd just order individually whatever we want whenever we want if at all. He said that they charge $3.50 for domestics and $4.00 for imports, whereas the same is $6/$7 at the Palms. Also mentioned Patron shots at $6.50 vs. $13 at the Palms. They've got a nice big bar, and a cool side room that has a pool table, a dart board, a Ms. Pac Man/Galaga machine, a Golden Tee machine, and for you smokers, a large cigarette vending machine. They also have an attached, sealed-off dining area that has 20 tables or so that is a smoke-free room. The parking lot mini-mall has a Starbucks and a smoke shop/Head shop called Mr. Bill's. The menu has the standard pub food like burgers, tacos, chicken fingers etc. and the prices are all very reasonable. So, if you think you'll attend just let me know and I'll start a list of profile names on the original post of this thread. Also let me know if you'll have a +1, +2 etc. I popped some shots and will post soon.

  • OK, so who else will be in Vegas for the shows? Especially now that the extra date has been added. What could be better than 2 straight nights with Ed in Vegas!?! Anyone like me, who had a ticket to what they thought was the tour opener, only to find out not! haha. Oh well, no complaints here, gotta love two is better than one. Let me know if you're coming over to the Loose Caboose for the pre-party and I'll add you to the list.

Pretty Much. I met Bob Stupak once, who built and owned it. He had fame for betting $1 million on the Super Bowl (he won). He told me he regretted that it became such a shit hole. Victim of its neighborhood I suppose.

It's the north end of the strip past the last tram stop at the Sahara. Since the Sahara closed April 2011 I'm not sure if the tram stop is still open...but yes to answer your question...it's not the best area of the strip to be at night. Shit really isn't that scary though. It's pretty much just street people in that area. The streets to actually look out for are the side streets of the majors on the south end of the strip between the hotels and parking garages. I've seen many people get rolled trying to walk to their cars. You don't go there alone no matter what people tell you on how safe it is.

There are alot of other circumstances that led to that area not being developed the way it was envisioned...

Lack of financing is one. Why do you think Trump built on the north end of the strip? Keep in mind there is no gaming in his hotel...he can't get a license for that in Nevada. He built slightly off of the strip and was supposed to be connected by a pedestrian bridge to the newly developed property where the Stardust stood to somewhat have "gaming on his property". That fell through and Mr. Donald was left with his dick hanging out in the wind. A billion dollar property...off of the strip...no gambling.

I guess that explains why hotels are so ridiculous at the Trump. If you go down to Freemont Street (old Vegas). You can see plenty of midget tossing, 300lb half naked ladies and trani's. That place is a little sketchy. I stay on the southside
