  • its a rendition of a saturday evening post cover by rockwell, the font gives it away. nobody is anybody in particular, seems like a total left wing family as the original painting was of a proper right wing fam. same artist that did hartford in 2010 with T bomb sawyer wheat pasting the fence.
  • UMMM... the kids are the band?

  • Artist said that the kids were the band. If I remember correctly, it went Jeff, Eddie, Mike on the left (top to bottom) and Matt, Stone, Boom (top to bottom). Matt and Stone may be out of order, but I think that's how it went.

Well, I thought it was a birthday poster for the band members, who are the kids, which would make Neil their father. ...which means he "had relations" with all of their mothers. :D
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

You realize your post is 100% correct? :wtf:

  • From what I understand it's Neil Young and Gloria Steinem as the parents and the band as their children

It's jeff, Ed, boom on left

On right the top 2 are mike and stone but I don't remember which the bottom right smiling at you is Matt. I am 100% sure of this.

If I assume you got stone right, that makes mike the top on right, and that is what i seem to remember but can't be sure. Bottom right is clearly not boom. Kid has blonde hair. Not that they necessarily match now, but boom having blonde hair as a kid is unlikely.

Hampton said Ed saw poster on saturday and told him the kid in middle on left looked just like his daughter. Hampton said he was psyched because that meant he got it right.

Originally woman was Joplin, but someone with band asked him to change it to Steinem.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
  • I was commisioned by Pearl Jam to create their 20th anniversary event poster. They wanted something very special to commemorate the occaison so I worked directly with Jeff Ament on the concept. The theme is a riff on the famous Norman Rockwell 'Freedom of want' print.

At the head of the table is Neil Young & Gloria Steinem as musical & cultural influences and below them are the band members as kids of that actual generation.

From top to bottom on the left are: Jeff Ament, Eddie Vedder & Boom. Top to bottom on the right are Stone Gossard, Mike McCready and Matt Cameron.

I worked from photos of them all as kids that I was supplied by their management.

Designing the 20th poster was extra special for me as I was at & sold their merch 20 years before at their very 1st show at The Offramp in Seattle when they were named Mookie Blaylock.

It was very full circle for me

    hope this helps :)

Thanks for this! I love this poster. The Norman Rockwell take-off was genius.

What is the Gloria Steinem connection?
