Hey Friends, while PJ20 planning, could you help... UPDATE

Friends,
This little place we call the "Pit" is without a doubt, an awesome place for anything Pearl Jam, but it is so much more.

The community that makes this place breathe is unbelievable! The great feelings I have from here out number the bad experiences 2000 to 1. The friendships, the charity, the knowledge... (ever ventured over to A Moving Train on a dull day?)

With that, I ask of you...

Would any of you be willing to help me out in the form of donations for a cause that I am helping with? Let me 'splain Lucy...

I am trying to pay it forward on a few charity events. I am undertaking 3 different events, and cash has flown from my wallet faster than Mikes fingers fly up the frets. One is for a co-worker that has been undergoing treatments for colon cancer. My co-workers and myself are underwriting a raffle item with all the proceeds going directly to him for help with his medical expenses.

The other two events revolve around Breast Cancer. I am underwriting the cost of uniforms for a "Pink" volleyball game involving our high school volleyball team. I am supplying pink uniform tops to two varsity squads, and pink socks for the junior varsity and freshman teams. My hopes are to spur on another group of kids that realize that each one of us can give in many different ways, and hopefully embed a charitable spirit in them that lasts a lifetime. The girls will be crafting indivual projects that will be auctioned off during the game, and will be seeking pledges for number of Kills, blocks etc. The other event will be our local Relay For Life in July. The girls on the volleyball squad will team up and walk amongst other participants and surviors for the cause.

As fund raising items for each event, we hope to obtain 2 pink iPods. One will be raffled off at the Relay for Life, with all of the proceeds given to the local chapter. Raffle tickets will be sold by the girls and the raffle will be held just prior to closing ceremonies on July 16th. The other iPod will be given away as a door prize at the high school Pink Game. Everyone that shows up to the game wearing Pink will be given a ticket and will be entered in the drawing at the end of the game.

Would any of you be willing to donate a small amount of cash to help us procure these two iPods?
Any help would be so great and appreciated on so many levels. Think about it and see if you can help us out. If you can spare a little green, please PM me for a paypal donation address.

Thank You. A very sincere and honest thank you.

Dave

P.S. Pictures of each event will be posted here later.

Good luck to you. Unfortunately, any money I have for charity is reserved for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

It’s nice what you’re doing though.

Have you considered contacting Apple to donate the pink iPods?

Which 'Relay For Life' event are your teams participating in? There are typically donation pages for team and/or individuals from their website.
    Thanx.

They will be walking in the Bridger Valley (Wyoming) Relay in July.

I dont know if they have a website or not, but will definetely include a link if they get one for their team.

This endeavor is just to try to raise some funds to help them buy two iPods that will be used as mentioned in the original post.

We are a very small community, and fund raising options can be very limited. The town I live in is Mountain View, Wy. population... 1500. Zip code 82939... It really is small.

I have tried many avenues for fund raising, being involved with youth basketball and Little League baseball for 8 years, so I have some contacts and experience, but really, it is very hard to reach very far with so few people.

The spirit of giving is great around here (the Pit) and I truly appreciate all the help we can get.

Whatever you do, please don't think I am not genuine or that I am attempting to defraud any of you. Any and all of the donations will be put to the purchase of the iPods, as mentioned.

A huge kudo goes out to the folks that have jumped on to help us out.

I am fundraising for other reasons, but as so many people are strapped for cash these days, how about a dollar donation per wiling PJ member. It is a tiny donation but if enough people send in to a registered site, their pockets won't be dented and the cash will add up. Additional donations could be suggested, but attract the audience with a small donation. PM me for other ideas and getting fund going...you may already have them in place, but I'd be wiling to help. I am about to get my butt into gear to do it so I will share what I know.

They are the Mtn View High School Volleyball team, but apparently they arent listed yet. I see that the boys basketball team is listed, but the girls are apparently not quite pulled together enough to have it all in order for the ladies to list it on the website.

I will get ahold of the young lady that is going to be the team leader, and let her know there are people around here that might doante if they can hurry up with their team listing. She is an up-coming senior, and with this being the last week of school, and state track and field, she may be a bit busy...

I'll see if she can get the girls together for a picture to post there to.

    Stay tuned, and stay giving.
