Eddie.....Go on the Howard Stern Show!!
The whole HS show loves PJ (because they are smart), and Howard, despite what anyone that hasn't listened to him may think, is incredibly deep and is simply the best interviewer of all time. His show is known to be crazy and out of control, but that is because the real world orbiting around him is exactly the same, and he is the only person that invites it into his studio........Howard and Eddie have way more in common than anyone would think...both are (or they portray at least to be) extremely caring, open, real, hyper-intelligent persons with streaks of exploration/rebellion that doesn't encroach on other's people's lives at all....I understand why a lot of you would have strong feelings against Stern, but if you gave his show a chance and listened to the amazing interviews with legends from the likes of Paul McCartney to Billy Idol to Jay-Z.....
Eddie......do it....it would be the legendary moment for the show. I know it is kinda "anti-Eddie" to expose yourself to such openness, but that is exactly why I always thought you would do it one day....there is no such thing as "anti-Eddie"...you both amaze me by zigging when you should be zagging........

Have any of you heard the interview he did with Chris Cornell?

I'm not saying that it is...... What is brilliant about Stern is that he has people in his studio that are from every walk of life..... And, I can totally understand why people feel he is a one trick pony or exploitative, but (and this is where you'll have to trust me a bit) he is so intrigued by what makes people who they are and somehow truly can connect and be with each person and their experience. He has to test that and explore each person, and at times he gets people to do crazy stuff, but all he does is introduce his listeners to the spectrum of life......from the funniest and happiest experiences and relationships, to the sadness and darkness of broken lives and broken dreams. It is as fascinating and mind boggling to me why a stripper or porn star or broken comedian or musician or trash collector (on and on) gets to where there are... Stern allows people (gets people) to share their lives. On the surface, there is no depth.... You are right!! Stern will be the first to admit that he isn't wild at all in his own life...in fact, he is boring and neurotic.. Read his rolling stone article if you really have any interest in this... There truly is something bigger than a shock jock. He is an artist and a brilliant brilliant human.... I guess I'd say to trust me that what he does is art, and that the only possible way to expose and connect all these real world aspects of life is to be absurd at times. His stances on really important issues are so grounded in what is best for individual freedoms and the caring of the weakest...
Anyway....there is some really deep aspects of Stern's outlook, personality and humor... There are some incredibly shocking and childish aspects too. That is exactly why I connect with him... I'm so deep.
I would love to see any of the band members on the show....there is so much respect for their talent,... I want the interview because I just know that as much as I think Eddie and the boys are great people, I simply know I'd find out they are more dynamic, graceful, legendary and more unique than I ever suspected...all without ruining their mystery and private aspects. I want that.. I idolize the music, not the people....I just want to know how on earth we are so damn lucky to be here while they are and how they tick. And......I need to know if Eddie listens to their CDs in his car and sings along...that has plagued me for 20 years....... It's come up a few times and Stern said he thought Ed would never do the show....bty, Stern flips out when Fred plays Glorified G....says it's the best song they've ever done and one of best ever....Formally known as Tackalac before being formally known as Vedderwt,,,,....release my old name and posts....

i just finished reading howards RS interview ... its amazing .. as for Eddie going on his show .. something tells me ed would walk out in seconds ...i can see it now
Howard:
so eddie ...do you like anal ?
eddie :
did you say anal or analog ? cause if you said anal ..IM OUT ..

have you seen the colors of my fathers eyes0 -
How about not..
Do we really need to hear when, how much Ed got laid and did drugs?
I can't stand Howard Stern. Why do people like him? I just listened to the Cornell interview. It's trashy TMZ stuff. There's no way Ed would get asked questions that matter.0 -
its true. they have a lot of mutual interests and qualities IMO. I suspect they have already encountered each other. in the past 5 years or so, i have seen howard go from being annoyed by pj, to praising them various times.
I cant picture EV agreeing to open himself up enough to be interviewed on the HS show though.0 -

I know, but if it ever happened it would be very interesting...the tension kinda makes the show,...Howard tests, guest responds....I guess the thing is that having heard Eddie answer questions in interviews in the past, I have no doubt he could go toe to toe with Howard and deflect from anything he didn't want to answer....in fact, I would want to hear that happen... I just think Eddie would display his intelligence and wit and Howard knows when and how to get the interesting things out of someone...I guarantee Howard doesn't care about the things he would ask a lot of other people...it would be a tough interview and have some fireworks...I guess it just hit me, after listening to a re-run of HS's interview with Paul McCartney, how much more I understood Paul's career and relationship with his band. Paul commands respect and laid down the law several times, but he even said several times, "wow, I don't know why I am telling you this, I have never told anyone this, hadn't thought about this forever, but XYZ" So, I know there is this idea that Howard cares about a narrow set of questions and themes, but he truly allows someone to show a lot of their true character....
Anyway, I don't think it will ever happen, but I also think the whining and over the top complaints about the TenClub will never go away either....but it is good to dream of both.Formally known as Tackalac before being formally known as Vedderwt,,,,....release my old name and posts....

i agree, it would be an awesome interview and a great acoustic performance to add to the others that have been performed on the show...
i often wonder who the big pj fan is on the show? especially on the wrap up show, pj usually plays them in and out of their breaks
i'm also wondering who from the show will be at the beacon? i'm sure it won't be howard since they're on a weekday, unless of course the show is on one of their many breaks...i'm sure howard would be blown away by eddies performance and it would be great to hear his reaction

Typical response from a person who obviously hasn't listened to HS interview some of the most influential musicians in our time...Joel, Taylor, McCartney, etc. It's not ALL about the ass ALL the time...most of the time its the kind of honest questions I would want the answers to.

His interview of with Chris Cornell sucked. I really didn't need to know he was getting laid at age 15.pjradio wrote:NewJPage wrote:"turn around...lemme see your ass" does not sound too deep to me.

I have been listening to Stern for over 15 years now and at least once a month some sort of Pearl Jam discussion comes up. Usually its in the form of Fred playing a song coming out of commercial and then Howard talking about them for a few seconds.
I personally don't think Eddie will ever do it, but if he did, Howard would ask him a lot of really good stuff, not just sex. Sure, sex would be part of the discussion, that's what gives the show the edge, but in the end he would ask him a lot of stuff that many of us on here would love to know.
One intersting thing about Howard loving Glorified G and it being his favorite PJ song, is that it's an anti-gun song. Howard has discussed several times on his show how he owns several guns and believes in them for protection. I can see the start of the interview now...Fred plays Glorified G as Eddie walks in....Howard starts..."Hey Eddie, I love that song Glorified G song, its my favorite, I own a few guns"...Eddie responds..."Oh yeah, well, its an anti-gun song that we wrote...I hate guns..." Would be a great start to the interview!0 -
If anyone on Sirius were to interview Ed,it should be Ron Bennington.I ain't got no fly'n shoes..0

I would love to hear Ed on Stern. LOVE. He has a great sense of humor so I think it would work. It would certainly beat the Stone/Josh Homme interview from Deep magazine.

While I agree that it would be a remarkable interview, and Stern is among the greatest interviewers of our generation (I've listened for 17 years), I find that I can't really stomach his childish self-centrism and near-total focus on his staff any longer. There were many years where I'd go to great lengths just to hear even five minutes of his show, be it to catch part of the news with Robin while on a smoke break a lifetime ago or at the end of a long day's work, unwinding with a spliff or what have you. He was a constant presence in my existence.
Then something changed. As I began focusing more on self-betterment and building a more positive perspective, I found the Stern show to be completely unfulfilling. It was like a light switch was flipped, and it suddenly felt unhealthy. I realized I wasn't learning anything, there was nothing truly meaningful ever coming through the speakers. Just food for the funnybone with varying levels of juvenile attitude. It was suddenly all alienating - not to mention Ronnie's flagrantly obnoxious scummy Jersey-worm caricature. (Disclaimer: I love NJ, spent 7 years of my life there, but there are some seriously fucked up individuals among that particular herd.)
I generally can't stand podcasts, but I've substituted those moments with a new fascination: http://www.ustream.tv/joerogan.
I'm not a big UFC or even MMA fan, and I don't particularly follow comedy, but Joe Rogan is the real fucking deal. Whether it be a discussion about philosophical perspectives on existentialism or his friend's mutant cannabis strain or everyday life shit, he has a fascinating slant on things, as well as a way of putting them that simply *clicks*. He doesn't know the secrets of the universe or how to be half the interviewer Stern is, but he has great guests and is consistently talking about relevant issues of the day.
Just a thought. Fla fla flo hi.0 -
Howard Stern is an exploitative piece of shit. Eddie wouldn't have anything to do with that guy if he knows better.Austin City Limits - Oct 04, 20090
