He never tried to understand

how it felt

how it was to be left behind

after so long,

just left to die alone

my heart was stolen

and sadly, the bell couldn’t be

un-rung

No, I became a drinking fountain

dry throat, quench your thirst

only to see you walking away

living your life with someone unlike me

without a thought for where that water came from

Exhaust the fountain carelessly, why not?

that’s how it felt

to be available and unvalued

never to be chosen

just some old drinking fountain!

why not get out your sledgehammer now?

why should that thing stay there peacefully on the wall?
