StubHub Question

I did a quick search and didn't see anything, but sorry if this has been discussed before.

When purchasing tickets off StubHub, are you basically just taking the chance that the seller won't still show up at the venue and scan their tickets before you get there? Leaving you high and dry while they scored money for the tickets AND went to the show?

The gf decided she wants to come to Chicago for Tom Petty so I ordered two tickets and I'll be selling my one ticket. But as I was printing out my new tickets, that thought crossed my mind since they could have easily printed them at home before listing them.
