If you didn't get tickets, try these things...

Inevitably, people sometimes don't get tickets. That said, if you are new to the 10C, here are some steps I usually go through. In 20 years, I have only missed 1 show that i wanted to go to...the Vic Chicago 10C only show.

1. 10C lottery. This is your best chance at the best tickets. If this fails:
2. 10C message board. I have sold (face value) my extra here once, and also got someone's extra. 10c seats, face, and a new friend.
3. 10C presale. On some occasions, 10C will offer TM presale codes after the 10c sale. This is a bit rare, but it has happened before.
4. Other Presale. Radio Stations, credit cards, etc all have presales. Look for passwords, sign up, etc.
5. Public Onsale. This one generally sucks, because of the hoops you have to jump through, but its the biggest allotment of tix.
6. Dont go to a 3rd party resale just yet....inevitably....people get busy, cant go, etc. See Step 2....keep posting on the message board.
7. Keep checking the public onsale sites. Tickets are usually released after the main sale. People's cards decline, etc, so tickets are rereleased.
8. Get a single ticket. My brother and I got single tickets for Springsteen, in 2 separate sections, and talked to people to switch seats and we sat together. Worked out great.
9. 3rd party. This is probably expensive, so this is your worst option...but dont freak out and go here 10 minutes after the public onsale because you struck out. Wait, be patient, and prices come down.
10. See step 7. If that fails...go to the show anyway. There is ALWAYS someone selling a face value ticket. The venue gets tickets released on the day of the show all the time.
11. Ed would suggest you try to sneak in. I would not suggest that...but hey...he did it.
Additional Edits:
12. Subscribe to the email list of the venue. (Thanks PearlJamVS)
13. See if you can find a season ticket holder of the sports team for that venue. They sometimes get presales we dont hear about.
Another Edit:
14. If you and your friends can only find single tickets in separate sections...get them. Chances are....you can switch with someone to sit with your friend. Somtimes, venues have bars or viewing areas overlooking the stage, so you just need a ticket and its actually a better spot. Just get in the building. Who cares if its 1 seat behind the stage. Get in the building.

Again...I have seen them 50+ times and only ONCE was I denied a ticket after trying all of the above. ONCE. And that was a RARE 10Club member only event.

And please keep this respectful. Venting is ok, but lets not turn this into a debate. There are other threads for that, and I really just want to keep this info handy for people who need ideas.

Don't check 3rd party sites Friday night or this weekend. The asking price will frustrate you. The shows are weeks away. Those numbers will drop.

...also, subscribe to the venue's email list. I've always gotten great tickets through the venue's pre-sale.

Good call, I actually had that happen for a non-pj show once, too.

TM will release tickets a few days before the show. I have gotten good seats to concerts this way.

Resale prices will drop 48-24 hours before the show, so keep checking.

Should also add that if you go the public sale rout that you probably have a better chance going to a ticketmaster outlet at the time of the onsale instead of trying online. I believe several wal marts have ticketmaster outlets now.

hmm, interesting. The problem I see here is that people would be in line in front of you.

OMG, anyone else remember having to do THAT????

10am public sale, internet does not exist.....I go to get concert tickets, leaving at 8, get there and there are 50 people in line already. I finally get to the counter and the lady in front of me wants tickets to the ice show, and keeps changing her seats. I get up there and tickets are gone.

Another option is to sign up for luxury club seats...Not the best option and on the pricy side. But figured I'd throw it out there.

EX: Greenville's arena it's sec 113-115 and it's 400 dollars per yr, 2 yr min.

I do remember doing that! Those were the good old days. Most people don't know that the ticketmaster outlets still exist. Most stay home and try online or through the phone. That's why I doubt there will be a line of people. Also how they did it in the past when there were lines was people show up early and the person working the desk asks how many tickets everyone needs and she/he puts that into the system and the second tickets are on sale the system starts spitting out the tickets. That's how I remember it. I really think people will have better luck doing it this way than online. I guess the best way is to have one person trying online and on the phone and another person go to an outlet.

Yeah, i thought they did away with those. Back in those days, those ticketmaster people kinda knew what they were doing. Is that still the same now or is it just a walmart employee? No offense to walmart employees, but are they specialists or just someone who works in the electronics department?

I just looked this up. I guess you use touch screens to purchase the tickets now at the wal mart locations. So there is no person behind a desk doing it for you. Hopefully there is more than 1 touch screen available!

Getting a single ticket is one of the best tricks to seeing shows. You can almost always score a single from Ticketmaster (or the venue) at some point before the show, and you can usually get an incredibly good seat this way too. I have literally never had a seat worse than 5th row (or GA) at any concert I've ever gone to where I bought a single ticket. This is the main reason I see a lot of shows alone!
