If you can help a fellow 10 Clubber, my wife and best friend has been through quite a bit with more shit to come as she prepares for a total hip replacement one week from today. Anything you can do is much appreciated. I've been lucky enough to get to know quite a few of you here, and until recently, I'm sure I would've have been too proud to post something like this. But hearing Amanda Palmer's TED Talk about her book, "The Art of Asking," helped put things into perspective. I remember reading about Amanda's night with Eddie Vedder not so long ago, and after learning a little more about her my jealousy has turned into admiration.

Anyway, you can read more about Holly's ups and downs at http://hollysbrainblog.blogspot.com.

For any who would like to donate/purchase raffle tickets, here's the link http://www.gofundme.com/m0yoas?utm_medium=wdgt

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to do some sort of raffle. I've got a few posters I haven't gotten around to framing. Maybe that can drum up a few bucks to help with the large medical bills. If there's enough interest, maybe I could do a 50/50 thing, where half goes to Vitalogy Foundation or Wishlist Foundation and half can go toward medical bills.

The good news is the surgery went well and Holly is doing great with her brand new hip.

I can't donate anything as we're in a tight spot ourselves at the moment, but I went through a total hip replacement a little over a year ago myself, and I'm only 32, it was a birth defect, and if she needs someone to talk to, with questions or anything, or even just to talk...I'd be happy to text or email with her... feel free to PM me.

You guys are awesome. Like I said in my original post, it's not easy for me to ask for help, but I know there are lots of great people here, some I know personally, many I know just from time on the message boards and more I hope to get to know and meet at shows or fundraisers, etc. I'm definitely going to do a raffle, just working out the details. Hope to post something later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks again everyone.

Doing a raffle... If anyone can donate items toward it, that's fantastic. Please PM the details to me and I'll create a master list of items. I'd like to get it started soon, but I want to give a little time to those who are offering donated items. My goal is to have a complete list by a week from today, then run the raffle for another week, and draw on Sunday, April 19.

Here's how it will work: $5 per raffle ticket or five tickets for $20. Depending on how many entries we have, I might just write names on multiple tickets for multiple entries, or, if lots enter, I can actually use a spreadsheet to assign numbers to each person based on number of tickets. Luckily, I have a roll of raffle tickets just collecting dust in my basement.

Entries should be made through Holly's GoFundMe account found here: http://www.gofundme.com/m0yoas?utm_medium=wdgt

We can also accept entries through PayPal. If anyone prefers that, PM me and I'll get you the details.

Entries must reference "Pearl Jam" or "raffle" in the comments, along with your username on this message board or some other way to contact you if you win.

I have the following posters that I can include in the raffle:

    Eddie Vedder - St. Louis - 7/1/11 http://expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/137937
    Pearl Jam - Salt Lake City - 9/28/09 http://expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/110497
    Pearl Jam - San Francisco - 7/15/06 http://expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/40734

I'll dig up some more stuff. I don't have anything super rare or valuable, but some fun stuff here and there.

Thanks a million for all your help and support. You guys are terrific.

OK guys, so I don't want to make this all about me and Holly, so here's what I've decided. I'm doing a 50/50 raffle. Half of anything raised will go toward Holly's medical and the other half will go to the Wishlist Foundation. If anyone can donate items toward it, that's fantastic. Please PM the details to me and I'll create a master list of items. I'd like to get it started soon, but I want to give a little time to those who are offering donated items. I'll go thru my stuff and I def have something to donate. No offense man, but you should've made this entire raffle for your cause. Just saying. Good of you either way. Would be cool if wishlist donates some stuff for your cause since you're donating half to them.

I agree that this should be 100% for your cause. I think you should consider changing your mind and take out the Wishlist factor. Nothing against Wishlist at all... it just sounds like you are feeling guilty about having a raffle for your own cause so threw in a second cause to alleviate said guilt. But there is nothing for you to feel guilty about, and Holly needs the proceeds. I know you said you didn't want it to be all about you and Holly, but this thing really could be all about Holly and everyone would be okay with that.
But you know, of course do whatever makes you feel best... just sayin (i tend to do that). ;)
Either way, looking forward to seeing the raffle posted.

I hope the 50/50 thing doesn't make people less inclined to participate in any way. I've only had A+ positive experiences with Laura, Eric, everyone I've ever met who keeps Wishlist going.

I don't see why it would discourage folks from participating at all. I just think many of them would simply like to see your own cause getting more money! :)

Several people PMing me saying not to do 50/50 with Wishlist, and since Laura hasn't returned my messages, I'm considering taking their advice and just doing this all for Holly. I'm thinking that's not too late since we're still in collect-items mode. Anyone have a problem with that?
