Choir! Choir! Choir! sings Pearl Jam - Better Man Documentary about Domestic Violence

November 25th is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and begins the annual 16 Days of Activism. If you'd like to be involved or understand the issues that women face locally and globally start with the UNWomen website, contact your local Women's Council, Women's Refuge or Women's Health Service and/or check out your country's White Ribbon campaign website.
This documentary sounds solid, with the endorsement of a lot of reputable not-for-profit organisations and individuals. Would be a good project to support financially via the link provided above and/or view upon it's release if you can.
Long-winded bump0 -

Here’s an update for you from the ‘A Better Man’ team:
Today marks an important day in the movement to end violence against women. The United Nations has chosen the colour orange to highlight the next 16 days. We hope you'll answer this call to action and share this message with your friends and family.
So much has happened with the campaign in the last week! We have now raised more than $68,000 of our $75,000 goal with the help of more than 740 donors. White Ribbon - the world's largest movement of men working to end violence against women - surprised us with a $1,000 contribution after Director Attiya Khan and Producer Christine Kleckner presented the trailer at the inspiring What Makes a Man conference. We also announced several endorsements, including that of Oscar-nominated composer/musician Owen Pallett.
In case you missed it...
Attiya shared the story behind A Better Man with The Huffington Post. Have a read: huff.to/1vwFXvw
Our campaign got a shout-out and Choir!Choir!Choir!'s Better Man got a spin on The Strombo Show. Take a listen at the 1:58:00 mark: bit.ly/1vj4Toj
Thanks for all of your support and keep spreading the word!

The final budget to complete our film is $450,000, and while we've garnered a lot of interest from funding agencies and have found these discussions exciting, we're still working hard towards raising the total funds needed to make A Better Man. Please continue to share our campaign, so we can reach our new stretch goal.
We have some wonderful new perks to offer to contributors! Is your office full of Sloan fans? For $1,200, you can all pitch in to get the Canadian rock legends for a private workplace gig! We also have fitness classes from OpenMat in Toronto for those looking to get healthy and fit. And as we approach the holidays, our E-cards make for great gifts for friends and family. Make a special contribution on their behalf and help us raise awareness of the movement to end violence against women.
As always, thanks so much for all of your support!0 -
honestly I know Eddie does a lot of charity work, but can't think of a greater hollywood ending than Eddie flying to Toronto and presenting them with a check for the rest, after all when he wrote Better Man, I am sure he was hoping to get this kind of reaction, it may have taken 20 years, but it is pretty cool when you create something and something greater is then created from it, or even better, when Pearl Jam does their 2015 Canadian Tour and stops in Toronto do a press conference and make a commitment to cover whatever cost is left, that would really be a perfect ending0

Bump for Attiya, for having the courage to tell her survival story. Bump for all the women, children and men who live with (and have lived with) domestic, dating or family family violence - may you find a safe place and safe people to share your story xo0

Update
Hi, everyone!
Legendary rockers Sloan played an intimate acoustic performance last night - one of the perks from our Indiegogo campaign! We can't thank them enough for their immense support! Thanks also go out to Zane Caplansky of Caplansky's Deli for feeding the lucky bunch from Beyond Marketing Group.
For those who claimed tickets for Justin Rutledge's living room concert and dinner with Sarah Polley, we'll be announcing dates for these events soon! As always, thank you all for your support!
A BETTER MAN director Attiya Khan and Tod Augusta-Scott of the Bridges Institute were recently in the news. An in-depth Globe & Mail article by Ian Brown discusses some potential new solutions to end men's violence against women.
Can domestic abusers be rehabilitated?

We look forward to sharing more about the film's progress!

Hi, everyone,
It’s been quite some time since we’ve been in touch, but we have been busy! We have been immersed in the filming of "A Better Man" over the past many months, while continuing to build strategic partnerships for the launch of the film and impact campaign. This has only been made possible with the support of our Indiegogo funds, and we would not be where we are today without your generous donations and words of encouragement.
The topic of violence again women is at the forefront of our minds. It is our goal to bring “A Better Man” into the very difficult and necessary dialogue about abuse. We are pleased to announce that the National Film Board of Canada (http://nfb.ca) has come on board as our co-producer, bringing with them the creative, educational, and grassroots expertise to our film, and allowing us to achieve the reach that this project warrants.
The month of February includes important efforts in the movement to end violence against women. February 1st marked the beginning of Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Month in the US. Please take a moment to visit the website of our friends at No More (http://nomore.org/) to learn what you can do to support their important work. February also marks the One Billion Rising Revolution. Please visit this site to learn more about this global revolution: http://www.onebillionrising.org/.
We'll be back soon with more updates. Thank you for your continued support!0 -

Dear A Better Man supporters,
We are so pleased to formally announce our partnership with the National Film Board of Canada!
“The NFB has a long legacy of exploring vital stories and sharing them with Canadian and international audiences, as part of a broad public dialogue on the issues that matter. We are proud to be part of this incredible team of filmmakers and partners at Intervention Productions. This film can make a profound difference in the lives of both women and men and how we address domestic violence.”
— Justine Pimlott, NFB Producer
We are in very good hands and look forward to the film's release and distribution early next year!
With gratitude,
Attiya Khan & Lawrence Jackman, Co-Directors
